As is the case with every NHL Fades, we are going to look at some players who you should think twice about placing in your lineup or who you should avoid using entirely. Remember to check back on this page later in the day for confirmations on starting goalies and keep an eye on Rotoworld’s daily blurbs for all your fantasy hockey needs.

Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UT).

Editor's Note: Rotoworld’s Season Pass is now available for the low price of $19.99. You get plenty of extra articles including the minor league report, the junior report and much, much more. Buy it now!

Aleksander Barkov (FLA) - C - $6,500 (FanDuel), $6,600 (DraftKings)

Barkov has contributed four assists in his last seven outings and he has one goal in the past 11 matches. The Bruins have been red hot, especially with Tuukka Rask in the crease, and will present Barkov and Co. with a difficult matchup. He also has four goals and one assist in 11 career games versus Boston.

UPDATE: Florida's game at Boston has been postponed to a later date due to a severe winter storm in the area

Brayden Schenn (STL) - C - $6,800 (FanDuel), $6,400 (DraftKings)

St. Louis has struggled offensively with Jaden Schwartz out of the lineup and Vegas has been tough to score against during their eight-game win streak. Schenn only has one assist in the last five contests and one goal in his past 11 appearances.

Logan Couture (SJS) - C - $6,800 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings)

Couture will be playing for the third time in five days since his return from a concussion on Thursday night. He doesn’t have a point in his previous two outings and he has two shots on goal in each contest. Couture may need some more time before he is back to normal. He has also contributed just two assists in his past four matches against Toronto.

Evander Kane (BUF) - W - $6,700 (FanDuel), $6,800 (DraftKings)

It’s been a strong season for Kane, but he has one goal in the past eight games and one assist in the last four contests. Minnesota has been stingier defensively of late and Devan Dubnyk has surrendered a mere three goals on 69 shots in his last two starts.

Max Pacioretty (MTL) - W - $6,400 (FanDuel), $5,800 (DraftKings)

Pacioretty’s scoring woes have been well documented. He has gone 13 straight games without finding the back of the net and he has one goal in the last 22 matches. However, he is still being overvalued in daily fantasy formats, especially on FanDuel. Pacioretty also didn’t have a point and only had one shot in his previous meeting versus Tampa Bay this season.

Milan Lucic (EDM) - W - $5,700 (FanDuel), $5,200 (DraftKings)

Lucic hasn’t earned a point in his last four games and he was dropped to second line on Tuesday. Lucic had been playing alongside Connor McDavid and moving down the depth chart will be a significant blow to his fantasy value. He also only has three goals and three assists in 19 career appearances versus Anaheim.

Kris Letang (PIT) - D - $6,400 (FanDuel), $6,100 (DraftKings)

Letang returned from a three-game absence on Tuesday night, but he didn’t get on the scoresheet again. The Penguins blueliner has a mere two assists in his last eight appearances and he has scored only two goals in 38 matches this season. Letang is too pricey right now given his recent lack of production. Wait for him to heat up again.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (ARI) - D - $5,100 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings)

Ekman-Larsson hasn’t recorded a point in five consecutive games and he has one assist in the last 14 contests. Stay away from the Arizona defender during this ice cold stretch.

Erik Johnson (COL) - D - $4,700 (FanDuel), $5,400 (DraftKings)

Johnson has two goals and one assist in two games going into Thursday night’s action, but he is being overvalued on DraftKings. He only had two assists in seven contests previously and he has 16 points in 37 contests this season, but somehow he has the same price as John Klingberg, who leads all defensemen in scoring with 35 points in 41 matches, on DraftKings. Torey Krug is also the same price and he could be a better option than Johnson as well.

Jake Allen (STL) - G - $8,500 (FanDuel), $7,600 (DraftKings)

Allen hasn’t been confirmed as the Blues’ starter yet. Carter Hutton has started two games in a row for St. Louis and he has won both times. Allen was in the crease for a 3-2 overtime loss to Vegas back on Oct. 21 when he made 19 saves on 22 shots. He has one victory in his last seven outings. Hutton, who comes with a $8,500 price tag on FanDuel and costs $7,500 on DraftKings, has great numbers this year, but he wouldn’t be a safe option against the high-flying Golden Knights either.
