Tristan Jarry G (Pittsburgh) - $8,400 FanDuel, $8,000 DraftKings
Jarry is coming off his first bad start of the season as he was pulled Saturday against Toronto after the first period as he gave up three goals on 16 shots. He will look to redeem himself Monday against Colorado at home. He is 5-1-2 as he was not saddled with the loss against the Maple Leafs and his .914 save percentage and 2.66 goals-against-average are just okay. I think he will bounce back quite nicely against the Avalanche.
Nick Leddy D (New York Islanders) - $5,800 FanDuel, $5,600 DraftKings
Leddy is one of the top defensemen this season as he is tied for second in points with 24 as well as being tied for fourth in goals with six. He has been the quarterback of an above average power play that is firing at 20 percent. Leddy has not slowed down but did see his four game scoring streak end on Saturday. Look for him to start a new Monday.
Noah Hanifin D (Carolina) - $3,600 FanDuel, $3,500 DraftKings
For some reason Hanifin is not the top valued defenseman on the Hurricanes, even though he has 15 points and five goals, more than double anyone else including Justin Faulk, the supposed offensive star of the Hurricanes who has a goal and six assists. Hanifin is only 20 and has come into his own in his third season in the NHL. At this price, he should be in your lineup.
Nathan MacKinnon C (Colorado) - $7,100 FanDuel, $6,700 DraftKings
MacKinnon was the NHL’s first star for the month of November and deservedly so with five goals and 20 points in only 12 games. MacKinnon has not slowed down too much in December as he has three goals and five points in five games. The Avalanche center has 11 goals and 33 points this season in 28 games and is finally showing the stuff that won him the Calder Trophy for his performance in the 2013-14 season. He is still only 22.
Jonathan Huberdeau W (Florida) - $6,500 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings
Huberdeau has picked it up once again as he has five points in his last two games. He slumped in the middle of November for four games in which he was held off the scoresheet but has boosted his scoring once again. The 24-year-old has nine goals and 31 points in 29 games as he is already closing in on his season high in point when he had 59 in 76 games in 2015-16. He is missing Aleksander Barkov at center due to injury but that does not seem to bother him at this time.
Kyle Connor W (Winnipeg) - $4,500 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings
Always a favorite of mine, especially in FanDuel as he seems to be highly undervalued. Connor gets first line action with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, two of the best in the NHL at this time and Connor, a first round pick in 2015, is no slouch either. He has 10 goals and 18 points in 24 games with a couple of power play goals as he sees first line power play time as well. The rookie of the year has many contenders and Connor is near or at the top of most lists.
