Tourney Targets: Friday

One of the best daily fantasy basketball minds out there, DraftCheat, gives out his top FanDuel picks at each position for Friday night. Check them out below.

Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $400,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Friday’s NBA games. It's $25 to join and first prize is $40,000. Starts at 7:00pm ET on Friday. Here's the FanDuel link.

Point Guard

Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors, $10,100 - Curry gets a favorable matchup at home vs. Mavericks, who have struggled to defend the 3-point line all season long. This game should be one of the highest scoring of the night (and the NBA odds agree), with both teams playing at a fast pace. With many FanDuelers likely gravitating toward other studs such as LeBron, Brow, and Boogie Cousins, Curry could be the elite play that fewer people have.

Mo Williams, Charlotte Hornets, $7,400 - Williams has been absolutely on fire since joining the Hornets from the Timberwolves. He’s greatly exceeded value nearly every time he’s played, and even at an elevated price tag Williams should have no trouble justifying your selection. The matchup vs. the Raptors, even with Kyle Lowry back in the mix, is favorable enough.

Shooting Guard

Victor Oladipo, Orlando Magic, $7,200 - Oladipo has quietly become one of the more consistent fantasy performers in all of DFS. The minutes are there every single night and he very rarely scores fewer than 25 FanDuel points. Expect more of the same with upside for a huge game in one of the best matchups in the NBA going up against Ben McLemore and the lackluster perimeter defense of the Kings.

Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors, $7,300 - Thompson is another Warrior that should thrive in the up-tempo game vs. the Mavericks. At a tough position to fill, it’s hard not to take a player with the upside of Thompson in a GPP. He’s capable of catapulting your squad to the top of the standings on any night, but that’s especially true in plus matchup like the one he has tonight.

Small Forward

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers, $11,200 - LBJ has been absolutely on fire over the past few weeks since returning from his hiatus. The only thing preventing him from huge performances on a nightly basis has been the blowout wins we’ve seen from the Cavs. That is unlikely to be an issue tonight in a marquee matchup vs. the East-leading Hawks. The Cavaliers will need James’ best to win this game and he certainly will be up to deliver that performance. He should be worth the high price tag tonight.

Rudy Gay, Sacramento Kings, $7,400 - Rudy has picked up his game after the injury to Darren Collison, taking on a larger role as a playmaker and getting a few more shots up as well. Some users may be less inclined to use him tonight due to reduced minutes each of the last two games, but those were both games that turned into blowouts. Tonight’s matchup in Orlando should stay close and Gay should be back to his usual 35-40 minutes.

Power Forward

Nikola Mirotic, Chicago Bulls, $4,500 - Mirotic has been an absolute monster in his last three games coming off the bench for the Bulls. He’s playing upwards of 30 minutes a game in the absence of Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, and Derrick Rose, and the Bulls desperately need his shooting. The matchup may not be ideal vs. the Pacers, but the price is simply too good to pass up. Lock him in your lineups tonight and build from there.

Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz, $7,500 - Sometimes a very profitable strategy for GPP play can be to roster a player coming off a disappointing game, especially when they were a popular play that night. That situation certainly applies tonight, and it’s another very nice matchup for Favors in Philadelphia and he should bounce back in a big way.

Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz, $7,500 - The Stifle Tower seems to be an unstoppable force, and he has a matchup fitting his style tonight. The Sixers allow a ton of blocks and steals against them and Gobert collects both like they’re going out of style. Don’t be scared off by the elevated price tag - Gobert should have another stellar performance tonight.
