We have a solid nine-game NBA slate to attack for DFS purposes tonight. In this article I will identify some of the top guys that I will be using in my GPP lineups. Let’s hop into the analysis and find some tournament gems on FanDuel.
Isaiah Thomas – Boston Celtics – After a recent run of solid performances, the price on Thomas has reached a point where I can only consider him for GPP purposes. Last time the Celtics faced the Bulls, Thomas had one of his worst performances of the season (17 fantasy points). He should be much more focused tonight and I expect a better performance. When most people think of a Bulls/Celtics matchup, “fast pace” is not what comes to mind, however both of these teams are playing at a top 11 pace (BOS #3, CHI #11) this season. Giving Thomas a look in your GPP NBA lineups is certainly a viable strategy tonight.
Monta Ellis – Indiana Pacers – The Pacers will be without George Hill again tonight, which means Monta Ellis will be the primary ball handler for the offense. Ellis is a guy that we can consider for cash games as well, but I prefer my exposure to him via GPPs for a couple of main reasons. First off, the Pacers are 13.5-point underdogs in a road matchup with the Warriors, so the likelihood for a blowout is relatively high. Secondly, Ellis will likely be assigned the defense of responsibilities of the best player in the league, Stephen Curry. This could end up being an ugly game which would limit the fantasy output for Ellis. That being said, if the Pacers do find a way to the keep this game close, you have to figure he will play a major role.
Others to consider: DeMar DeRozan
Jae Crowder – Boston Celtics – Crowder is another Celtics player that is currently priced up after a solid run of games. And as I previously mentioned, this is a sneaky good game to attack for DFS purposes because both teams play at a fast pace. The total in this game is sitting at 206 with the Celtics just three-point favorites, meaning we should be seeing a high scoring, close game. Crowder has shown 40 fantasy point upside on a couple occasions lately, proving that the potential for a GPP-winning performance does exist.
Kristaps Porzingis – New York Knicks – I love the upside for Porzingis tonight. The Knicks will be hosting the Clippers in what should be a close game (O/U: 203, LAC: -2) and they appear to have released the restraints and are committed to giving Porzingis consistent time of the court, so he is a high upside play tonight. The Knicks will definitely want to win this home game against the Clippers, meaning I wouldn’t be surprised to see their young star on the court for some extra minutes.
Boban Marjanovic – San Antonio Spurs – DFS’ new favorite player, Boban Marjanovic! Marjanvoic has been remarkably productive this season in very limited time on the court. Boban is coming off his best game of the season in which he went for 17/13, good for 32 fantasy points in just 22 minutes on the court. This type of upside is very difficult to come by at the minimum DFS salary. The limited playing time (typically in the single digits) makes Boban risky for cash games, but he’s definitely a guy to get exposure to in GPPs.
