Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great time welcoming the new year. I’m excited to be here today with some information that I hope will help you set your fantasy lineups this week. DraftKings has some great tournaments again this week while MondoGoal’s tourneys have fallen in size. I’m hoping the decrease is due to the holidays, but we’ll see the direction they go in this month. I’ll focus on DraftKings again today due to the much bigger tournament size.
This week’s slate is an interesting one with a few one-sided matches that will open up some value. Let’s get to it.
The goalkeepers are fairly simple this week. Petr Cech is the safest bet by a big margin. He faces a horrible Newcastle side at home and his chances at a win are great. He’s always good for a few saves and I can’t imagine him getting lower than 10 points. The second best bet is Manchester United’s David de Gea. Manchester have really struggled as of late but still have a good defense and control the ball for large amounts of time, making it hard for their opposition to score. DeGea is certainly an option at a cheaper price. From the cheap guys, Stekelenburg is my favorite target on this slate. He faces Norwich and should have both a good chance at a win and several saves.
The strikers are also really straight forward. Olivier Giroud is the best choice by a wide margin and should be considered for both cash and GPP games. Walcott is a great GPP target and the sportsbooks love his chances to score. At that price, a goal would be huge for him. Ighalo is only a GPP option, as he faces Manchester City, and he’s not as bad as this chart suggests. There are a ton of options near the bottom of the list but none are to be trusted in cash outside of Shane Long. Everyone else is a GPP option if they start, but my favorite one would probably be Gestede.
Good luck everyone!
