Los Angeles Dodgers

Kyle Freeland has pitched well in four of his five starts this season. With a 2.56 ERA averaging 11.1 DK points per outing, it seems odd that I would want to target him right? Well, Freeland could be heading for some serious regression. The Dodgers as a team are batting .247 against all pitching and against lefties they are even worse with a .209 team batting average over 263 at bats. These stats could keep the Dodgers lower rostered but here’s the thing, Freeland has pitched poorly against the Dodgers in the past. In 2019, over two starts, Freeland allowed a 11.12 ERA with three home runs against Los Angeles. Freeland only lasted 5.2 innings pitched total over two starts. This is a game where you will want to invest in both sides. I could definitely see Freeland playing well but considering the Dodgers beat Freeland badly twice in 2019, I am going to go against the grain and invest in a possibly low rostered Dodgers stack. Freeland allows higher averages and more long balls to opposing righties. The Dodgers are favored by -230 with an 8.5 under/over.

Matthew Boyd - Detroit Tigers (vs. Cleveland Indians) DK: $8,000 FD: $7,400 Yahoo: $34

Despite an ugly start to his season, Boyd is coming around. His strikeout stuff looked good in his last start against the White Sox. Although he allowed three earned over four innings pitched he did rack up nine strikeouts. Cleveland has been playing fine but their numbers are actually quite low if you take a second look. Cleveland is batting .204 as a team with 230 strikeouts (11th highest in the league). Jose Ramirez is ice cold batting .154 over his last 39 at bats. He’s the centerpiece of their offense. The Cleveland Indians are batting .263 against lefties and .328 against righties. This is the time to take advantage of a struggling Indians team.

Other SP Option: Randy Dobnak - Minnesota Twins - (Kansas City Royals)

J.T. Realmuto - Philadelphia Phillies (vs. Atlanta Braves) DK: $5200 FD: $4000 Yahoo: $21

Facing Robbie Erlin, Realmuto should continue his success. Realmuto has a .421 BA against lefties this season with two home runs. Erlin doesn’t have the stuff to go through a Phillies lineup once let alone possibly three times. Philly righties are in play. Possibly my favorite stack of the night, although I do love the Dodgers. The Phillies are favored by -120 with a 9.0 under/over.

Other C Option: Christian Vasquez - Boston Red Sox (vs. Baltimore Orioles)

Anthony Rizzo - Chicago Cubs (vs. Chicago White Sox) DK: FD: $3400 Yahoo: 17

The Cubs against the White Sox have the highest under/over of the slate at 10.5. The Cubs are favored by -205. The White Sox are sending Reynaldo Lopez to the mound, a hard throwing right handed pitcher. Lopez had a very tough first outing against the Twins where he allowed four earned runs over less than an inning pitched. Can he get back on track against lefties like Rizzo, Schwarber and Heyward? Probably not. Load up left handed Cubs.

Other 1B Option: Jose Abreu - Chicago White Sox (vs. Chicago Cubs)

Kike Hernandez - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Colorado Rockies) DK: $3800 FD: $2400 Yahoo: $10

As I mentioned above, “Freeland only lasted 5.2 innings pitched total over two starts... In these two starts, Freeland allowed a 11.12 ERA with three home runs against Los Angeles.” Kike is a right-handed batter that will benefit from a Dodgers win and at value pricing. Depending on where he ends up in the lineup, Kike is a lock for me at such a low salary. This is a GPP play as he has struggled with a .217 batting average over his last 24 at bats.

Other 2B Option: Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Colorado Rockies)

Corey Seager - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Colorado Rockies) DK: $5000 FD: $3700 Yahoo: $18

Seager is batting .235 with three home runs over his last 40 at bats. While his average isn’t great he’s been scoring well fantasy wise with 9.2 DK points per game over his last ten games. Seager is also getting a ton of RBI opportunities. Don’t forget to include Corey Seager in your Los Angeles stack tonight.

Other SS Option: Trevor Story - Colorado Rockies - (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers)

Rafael Devers - Boston Red Sox (vs. Baltimore Orioles) DK: $5300 FD: $2800 Yahoo: $15

The Red Sox are hot. Baltimore is in town and they’re sending Alex Cobb to the mound. Cobb is a right-handed veteran who has conventional splits. Conventional splits means that he is better against righties opposed to lefties. Reverse splits would be a right handed pitcher with his best numbers being against lefties. Reverse as in, reverse from the normal, get it? Well, Devers is red hot batting .326 with two homers and 9.8 FPPG (fantasy points per game) over his last 43 at bats. The Red Sox are favored by -114 with a 10.0 under/over.

Other 3B Option: Nolan Arenado - Colorado Rockies - (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers)

Bryce Harper - Philadelphia Phillies (vs. Atlanta Braves) DK: $6100 FD: $4400 Yahoo: $27

This is my play of the day. Harper is batting .371 with three home runs over his last ten games. He has seen Robbie Erlin eight times over his career. In these eight at bats, Harper is 6 for 8 with a double and a triple. Look for Harper to stay hot against a pitcher that he has been able to hit before. Erlin, although a lefty, is no threat to Bryce Harper and one of my top stacks of the day in the Philadelphia Phillies.

Other OF Option: Andrew McCutchen - Philadelphia Phillies (vs. Atlanta Braves)
