Houston Astros (vs. Tyler Glasnow)
The Houston Astros lost to Ryan Yarbrough and the Tampa Bay Rays last night 5 - 2. The Astros had seven total hits and did not capitalize with men on base. Yarbrough lasted five innings allowing just three hits while striking out five batters. This is the perfect bounce-back spot for Houston against a pitcher that has struggled against the Astros in the past. Houston is batting .315 as a team in 59 at-bats against Glasnow. Against Glasnow, Bregman is 2 for 5 with a double and a home run, Aledmys Diaz is 3 for 10 with a double, triple, and home run and Jose Altuve is 2 for 7 with a home run. Individually these numbers tend to get overlooked but when you combine them with other players’ success in the lineup they become more trustworthy. The Astros are underdogs at +125 with an 8.0 O/U.
Other Stacks: Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Kyle Wright)
Julio Urias - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Atlanta Braves)
Urias has played very well in his recent starts. Over his last 10 games, he’s 3 and 0 with a 3.26 ERA averaging 13.7 DK PPG. The problem is that he hasn’t pitched since late September. Urias has seen the Braves just one time (12 at-bats). In these 12 at-bats, he allowed zero hits and walked two. Urias has hit double-digit fantasy points in each of his last four outings. I don’t think that his two-week layover will be much of an issue. Urias is well-rested making him cash/GPP playable.
Other SP Option: Zack Greinke - Houston Astros (vs. Tampa Bay Rays)
Will Smith - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Kyle Wright)
Wright pitched extremely well in his last start against the Miami Marlins. He lasted six innings allowing just three hits. Now, Wright must take on the left-handed heavy, Dodgers offense. In 2020, Wright allowed left-handed batters to hit .288 with four home runs in 73 at-bats. Conversely, right-handed batters are hitting just .197 in 71 at-bats, Yes, Will Smith is a right-handed batter but he’s actually hitting .288 with all eight of his home runs against right handed pitching so far this season. Invest in Dodger lefties as well as Smith for cash or GPP tournaments.
Other C Option: Travis d’Arnaud - Atlanta Braves (vs. Julio Urias) *hedge*
Yuli Gurriel - Houston Astros (vs. Tyler Glasnow)
Why Gurriel? Simple. RBI opportunities. Glasnow last pitched on 10/09 against the Yankees allowing no hits or runs over 2.1 innings pitched. Before that, he allowed four earned runs off two home runs over 5.0 innings pitched against the same NY Yankees. Glasnow allowed both the aforementioned home runs to New York’s Giancarlo Stanton. Gurriel is struggling at the moment with a .162 batting average over his last 10 games but he’s priced accordingly. Considering his low salary and high upside, give me some Gurriel tonight against the overworked, left-handed Tyler Glasnow.
Jose Altuve - Houston Astros (vs. Tyler Glasnow)
Altuve is now averaging 9.5 DK points per game over his last 10 games. Houston’s second baseman is batting just .222 over his last 36 at-bats but his home run numbers remain high. Houston is batting .315 as a team in 59 at-bats against Glasnow. Against Glasnow, Bregman is 2 for 5 with a double and a home run, Diaz is 3 for 10 with a double, triple, and home run and Jose Altuve is 2 for 7 with a home run. Altuve and Bregman are must plays if you’re stacking the Houston Astros tonight.
Alex Bregman - Houston Astros (vs. Tyler Glasnow)
Tonight will be Glasnow’s third start in seven days. In his start back on 10/6, he threw 93 pitches, and in his second start on 10/09 he threw just 37 pitches. I really doubt Glasnow makes it past the forth. Bregman is averaging 10.7 DK points over his last 10 games while batting .289 over 28 at-bats. Bregman is 2 for 5 with a double and a home run against Glasnow,
Corey Seager - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Kyle Wright)
As mentioned above, In 2020 Wright allowed left-handed batters to hit .288 with four home runs in 73 at-bats. Conversely, right-handed batters are hitting just .197 in 71 at-bats. Seager followed his best game in a while in the series finale with San Diego with another poor effort. Seager has been struggling over his last 37 at-bats posting just a .216 batting average with two home runs. Due to these struggles, Seager could be under rostered. Corey Seager comes back in a big way tonight against Wright and the Atlanta Braves.
Mookie Betts - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Kyle Wright)
Similar to Will Smith, Mookie hits right-handed pitching very well. In 2020, Mookie is batting .323 in 164 against opposing right-handed pitchers. He also has all 16 of his home runs against opposing righties. Mookie Betts has double-digit fantasy points in three of his last four games. The Dodgers are favored by -190 with a 9.5 O/U.
