It’s a modest five-game slate in the NBA this Monday, but there’s still plenty of DFS value to mined. From guys you almost must target to potential punt plays, we're here to break down the biggest values to be found. Let's start with a quick look at Vegas' expectations for today’s slate.
Knicks at Hornets
Warriors at Pacers
Nets at Celtics
Nuggets at Grizzlies
Hawks at Clippers
Shabazz Napier (PG $4.9k FanDuel … PG/SG $4.6k DraftKings) – The Nets have a ton of injury issues. Treveon Graham (lower back soreness), Joe Harris (right hip soreness) and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (face/head) are all questionable to play vs. the Celtics. They’re already missing Spencer Dinwiddie (thumb), Jared Dudley (hamstring), Allen Crabbe (knee) and of course Caris LeVert (foot), which means even more minutes for Napier. His price has jumped up but he’s still cheap, relative to his recent production and expectations.
Theo Pinson (SF $4.1k FanDuel … SG/SF $4.3k DraftKings) – Pinson is particularly attractive in FanDuel lineups tonight. He blew up for 34.6 fantasy points on Friday, good for 8x value, and should once again play an outsized role in Brooklyn’s rotation. See above for an extensive list of Nets’ players ruled ‘out’ or ‘questionable’ for Monday’s game. Pinson is cheap, the situational opportunity is there, and he qualifies at positions (SG and SF) without many glaring punt alternatives.
Terry Rozier (PG $4.5k FanDuel … PG/SG $5.3k DraftKings) – This begins with the fact that Kyrie Irving (hip) has been ruled out vs. the Nets on Monday. Rozier almost always thrives when Kyrie is out, since it’s a direct boost to his minutes and usage, and in six previous starts he’s averaged 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.3 blocks and just 1.3 turnovers. That adds up to 34.1 fantasy points, which would be 7.6x value based on his FanDuel price tonight.
Gary Harris (SF, $4.8k FanDuel … SG, $5.8k DraftKings) – The price on FanDuel is obviously way more appealing than DraftKings, so this may be a site-specific recommendation. Jamal Murray has been ruled out tonight with his ankle injury, Harris’ minute-limit keeps being raised, and his opponent tonight isn’t a defensive juggernaut. I used to shudder at the thought of playing guys in DFS vs. the Grizzlies, but Memphis is near the top of the ‘target’ list for tonight’s 10 teams – the Hawks are the best target, and the Clippers are in the discussion.
Trey Burke (PG $4.5k FanDuel … PG/SG $4.2k DraftKings) – The Knicks are playing without Emmanuel Mudiay (shoulder) for at least a few weeks. That already bumps Burke into the DFS conversation, but he becomes an obvious value with Frank Ntilikina (groin) also ruled out vs. Charlotte on Monday. New York can turn to guys like Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. as emergency ball-handlers, but Burke should clear 30 minutes with ease as a starter tonight.
