Damian Lillard - Portland Trail Blazers - (vs. Brooklyn Nets) - DK: $11,200 FD: $10,100 Yahoo: $51
The Portland Trail Blazers have yet to clinch. Trailed only by the Phoenix Suns, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the San Antonio Spurs - These are the teams to invest in today. To start, let’s talk about Lillard. Portland’s point guard is averaging 50.9 DraftKings points per game. Over his last five games, Lillard is averaging 63.1 DK FPPG (fantasy points per game) with 40 actual points per game. I think he wants to go to the playoffs. Lillard is facing a Nets team that has no reason to play their starters. They have clinched a playoff berth, and with 3.5 games separating them from the 8th and 6.5 from the 6th seeds, they are sticking in the 7th seed, set to face Toronto in the first round of the playoffs. Portland should win this one as they are favored by -435 with a 236.5 under/over.
Other PG options: Anfernee Simons - Portland Trail Blazers - (vs. Brooklyn Nets) DK: $3,000 FD: $3.500 Yahoo: $10
Gary Trent Jr. - Portland Trail Blazers - (vs. Brooklyn Nets) DK: $5,100 FD: $4,500 Yahoo: $12
C.J. McCollum has been playing through a fracture in his lower back. He’s a game time decision at the moment but I really doubt that he plays. This will benefit Gary Trent Jr. While Lillard is a must play, I really only like EITHER Trent Jr. or Carmelo Anthony, who you’ll read about next. With C.J. McCollum hindered at the least, sidelined at the most, offensive usage will shift heavily. Carmelo is likely to get a lot of action and a lot more shots. Most people know this and will be investing heavily in the Syracuse product. Most people don’t know how talented Trent Jr. is - here’s a small sample of his work as of late. Over his last five games, Trent Jr. is averaging 35.0 MPG (minutes per game). Over those 35 minutes, he’s averaging 16.2 points per game off 50% shooting from the field. Gary Trent Jr. will be supplying much of the Trail Blazers points tonight if McCollum is confirmed out. Even if McCollum is not out, I’d invest in some shares of Trent Jr. for sure! As I mentioned above, Portland should win this one favored by -435 with a 236.5 under/over.
Other SG options: Dillon Brooks - Memphis Grizzlies - (vs. Milwaukee Bucks) DK: $5,500 FD: $5,700 Yahoo: $20
Carmelo Anthony - Portland Trail Blazers (vs. Brooklyn Nets) - DK: $6,300 FD: $5,400 Yahoo: $21
As you can tell, I really like investing in the Trail Blazers tonight facing the Brooklyn Nets with a hindered C.J. McCollum. Although he will play, McCollum is not going to get excessive minutes. Carmelo Anthony is playing better team basketball than I’ve ever seen him play before. He should have increased shots and minutes tonight as well as more overall usage with the offense. Currently, Melo is averaging 34.2 minutes per game to go along with 17.8 points per game totaling 32.5 fantasy points per game over his last five outings. Anthony’s skills in the isolation game should negate the Nets ability to double team Lillard. Anthony will be needed tonight and going forward with C.J. McCollum not at 100%. Sign me up for some Portland Trail Blazer action tonight favored by -435 with a high 236.5 under/over.
Other SF options: Mikal Bridges - Phoenix Suns (vs. Dallas Mavericks) - DK: $5,300 FD: $5,000 Yahoo: $19
Brandon Clarke - Memphis Grizzlies (vs. Milwaukee Bucks) DK: $5,200 FD: 5,800 Yahoo: $19
Memphis needs this game. Clarke may not start but don’t be fooled his minutes will be there. I actually rather him off the bench with the second unit than with starters. I like Dillion Brooks matchup tonight so by investing in Brooks and Clarke you can sufficiently cover much of the offense in this one. Clarke has averaged 25.5 minutes per game and hasn’t been too consistent. Well it’s a good thing we don’t play season long. Tonight, Clarke has the matchup against Milwaukee's second unit (most likely) and even against Ersan (the likely starter), he’ll produce. Giannis is out tonight. The Grizzlies are favored by -136 and Clarke will be a big part of the win!
Other PF option: Zach Collins - Portland Trail Blazers (vs. Brooklyn Nets) - DK: $4,200 FD: 4,700 Yahoo: $13
Deandre Ayton - Phoenix Suns (vs. Dallas Mavericks) - DK: $8,100 FD: $7,300 Yahoo: $34
The Suns need this one. Who do they turn to when they need a big win? Yes, Booker and Ayton. Both of which you should have shares of tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs have clinched and are currently the 7th seed. They could potentially move up but at the moment, I think they are content with just making the playoffs with a healthy roster at this point. Ayton has averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds against Dallas over two starts so far this season but last season he averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds over three games against Dallas. Is this progress or not being able to figure out Porzingis? I’m going with progress. Plus, he'll probably see more of Boban than Porzingis. Porzingis is questionable tonight (rest). Either way, most will jump to Devin Booker and rightfully so but with most of the field going with Nurkic, why not invest in some exposure to Ayton at lower roster percentages with a similar upside?
Other C option: Jusuf Nurkic - Portland Trail Blazers (vs. Brooklyn Nets) - DK: $8,500 FD: 3,700 Yahoo: $35
Brad Wanamaker - Boston Celtics (vs. Washington Wizards) - DK: $3,600 FD: $4,500 Yahoo: $15
The Celtics are resting everyone. All five starters including, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Kemba Walker, Daniel Theis, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart. So, short answer. For value, go to the Celtics. Players including: Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, Semi Ojeleye and Robert Williams are all in play at minimal salaries around the industry. The Celtics are -136 favorites with all starters confirmed out.
Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns - (vs. Dallas Mavericks) - DK: $9,800 FD: $8,800 Yahoo: $43
Most will invest in Booker tonight and to be clear I will be rostering Booker as well. With that said, this is the fade. With massive roster percentages flocking towards Booker it’s completely to go with Ayton or fade the game completely. Booker should be able to score at will. Therefore I will not be investing in the fade play tonight. If anything, I’ll be rostering both Booker and Ayton in the same lineup. If Booker busts so does roughly 70 percent of all lineups.
