Point Guard

Malcolm Brogdon - Indiana Pacers (vs. New York Knicks) DK: $7,400 FD: $7,500 Yahoo: $33

The New York Knicks have a tough matchup against the Indiana Pacers tonight. Typically, New York’s success starts with solid play at the point by Elfrid Payton. Payton’s chemistry with Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and RJ Barrett is impressive. Here’s the problem, Indiana has major skills on the defensive end, particularly at the point guard and power forward positions. Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon are top-notch defenders. Brogdon will benefit the most from this scenario. The Knicks will have to rely on their isolation option which is Barrett. Quickley is very talented off the bench (probable) and Austin Rivers is back. With that said, Indiana’s back-up point guard, T.J. McConnell is a solid defender as well. All things considered, with such poor matchups for New York tonight the Pacers sitting at - 9 sounds spot on to me. The O/U is low at 214.5. Malcolm Brogdon is my top play of the night benefiting from extra steals/blocks, rebounds, and assists along with his 20.0 PPG average. Lock him in!

Other PG Option: Trae Young - Atlanta Hawks (vs. Cleveland Cavaliers)

Shooting Guard

RJ Barrett - New York Knicks (vs. Indiana Pacers) DK: $6,500 FD: $5,900 Yahoo: $23

As I mentioned above, the Knicks are in for a tough matchup tonight against the Pacers. RJ Barrett is seemingly the only advantageous matchup for the Knicks. Despite my prediction that the Pacers will win in a big way, I do think (daily fantasy-wise) Barrett can rack up some DFS goodness, even over possibly just three-quarters of play. The key to pivoting is to fade the popular plays with contrarian plays. Most people will be investing in the Pacers starting five tonight so pivoting to Knicks exposure is a contrarian play (even if you’re rostering Pacers too!). Barrett should have high offensive usage tonight and is averaging 30.9 fantasy points per game on Draftkings so far this season.

Other SG Option: Buddy Hield - Sacramento Kings (vs. Houston Rockets) **Early Showdown Slate**

Small Forward

Dwayne Bacon - Orlando Magic (vs. Oklahoma City Thunder) DK: $3,400 FD: $3,500 Yahoo: $10

If Evan Fournier ends up sitting, which is looking like the case, Dwayne Bacon and Terrance Ross see increased minutes and offensive usage. Fournier potentially also makes me love the duo of Markelle Fultz and Nikola Vucevic but you’ll read about that in my Center write-up. This is the rule of thumb for tonight. Bacon benefits off Orlando’s usage shift tonight in a win (the larger the better), and Ross will benefit in a loss. Orlando is favored by - 5.5 with a 217 O/U.

Other SF Option: Harrison Barnes - Sacramento Kings (vs. Houston Rockets) **Early Showdown Slate**

Power Forward

Zion Williamson - New Orleans Pelicans (vs. Toronto Raptors) DK: $7,800 FD: $8,100 Yahoo: $35

I expect Pelican centers to have big problems with Toronto’s big man Aron Baynes. Baynes is a 6’10 brick wall. Steven Adams could meet a tough opponent tonight. So, who picks up the slack? Well, Zion sees Pascal Siakam. Siakam is 6’9 weighing 230 lbs. Zion is 6’6 weighing 284 lbs. The sheer size of Zion automatically gives him an edge tonight. Stack Zion and OG Anunoby/Fred VanVleet, you won’t be disappointed. The Raptors are -1 point favorites with a 215.5 O/U. Zion is one of my top plays of this slate. His salary on Draftkings is way too cheap!

Other PF Option: Nerlens Noel - New York Knicks (vs. Indiana Pacers)

Center

Nikola Vucevic - Orlando Magic (vs. Oklahoma City Thunder) DK: $8,700 FD: $8,400 Yahoo: $38

Orlando’s center usage will go skyrocketing if Fournier’s absence is confirmed. The two-man game by Fultz and Vuc will be the Magic’s go-to strategy. If it succeeds, looks for less out of Aaron Gordon and Terrance Ross. If it doesn’t, look for Ross and Gordon to carry the load. Fournier’s potential absence from this game is huge. If he’s out, the sky’s the limit for the combo of Fultz and Vucevic. The Magic are favored by - 5.5 with a 217 O/U despite Fournier with a questionable tag.

**If you are fading the Orlando situation, invest in Al Horford**

Other C Option: Clint Capela - Atlanta Hawks (vs. Cleveland Cavaliers)

Bargain Bin

PG Markelle Fultz

SG Eric Bledsoe

SF OG Anunoby

PF Nerlens Noel
