NHL Plays: December 13

DRAFT is back for another season of quick and exciting daily fantasy action. Their DFS platform offers poolies with a chance to participate in a format that most of us have grown very accustomed to over the years. You can compete in a live snake draft in which the participants take a player with each pick. Unlike other DFS games, this gives you the opportunity to use your knowledge to craft a team that no one else will have because the players you select cannot be chosen by your competition.

The draft is quick as you are allotted just 30 seconds per pick and you take five players. Your team is comprised of three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

Your strategy can be dictated by the positions being selected ahead of you. For instance, if you are going last and everyone else has a goaltender then you can wait until your last pick to make that selection. Of course, selecting players going up against weaker competition or players who are riding hot streaks are always popular strategies as well.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rues and enjoy! It’s a great game! Thursday’s eight-game slate features drafts for 11, eight, and six people as well as plenty of three-person drafts. There are also head-to-heads to participate in.

Forward Rankings:

Eichel takes the top spot thanks to a favorable matchup and his recent red-hot play, which has generated five multi-point performances in his last six outings. Matthews and McDavid follow close behind with six-game point streaks apiece. The top lines of Winnipeg and Tampa Bay will be difficult for the opposition to slow down, which makes Scheifele, Wheeler, Kucherov and Point excellent picks. Huberdeau is also worth highlighting, as he has eight multi-point efforts in his past nine matches.

Defense Rankings:

Rielly has accounted for one point in each of the last six games and he already has a personal best 10 goals this season. Jones jumps into the second spot because he has collected four goals and four assists in the past seven contests. Muzzin earns a spot because of injuries to Los Angeles’ defense corps and the fact that he has one goal and five helpers over the last six games. There are plenty of great options on the back end for Thursday night’s slate, so you can wait to select a blueliner with your final pick.

Goaltender Rankings:

Jacob Markstrom Rinne has been outstanding at home this season, which earns him the top spot even though the Canucks have been playing better of late. Hutton should get his first start since returning from an upper-body injury and the Coyotes have struggled recently. Hellebuyck and Andersen don’t have easy matchups, but they have been earning plenty of wins and stand a good chance of coming out on top again on Thursday night. Tampa Bay may get Andrei Vasilevskiy back, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Domingue started again. He has been playing very well, so Tampa Bay may not feel obligated to rush him back even though it’s a big game against the Maple Leafs.
