Updated On: January 17, 2020, 11:22 am ET

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Friday night has three just games scheduled.

Sidney Crosby (PIT) – C - $8,100 FanDuel, $8,000 DraftKings, $33 Yahoo

Crosby missed 28 straight games while he recovered from core muscle surgery, but he’s making up for lost time now. He scored two goals and four points in his first two games back. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the scoresheet again Friday.

Dylan Larkin (DET) – C - $6,700 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Larkin is one of the few bright spots in a rather grim time for the Red Wings. He’ll be going into Friday’s contest riding a seven-game point streak. He has two goals and five assists over that span, bringing him up to 11 goals and 31 points in 47 games this season.

Kyle Connor (WPG) – W - $6,700 FanDuel, $6,100 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

Connor set a new career-high last season with 66 points and he’s well on his way to topping it this season. He has three goals and six points in his last four games. He’s up to 24 goals and 47 points in 47 contests in 2019-20, which makes him very valuable at that price point.

Jared McCann (PIT) – W - $5,100 FanDuel, $5,100 DraftKings, $17 Yahoo

McCann has three goals and four points in his last four games. That hot streak combined with the fact that the Penguins are going to be up against the lowly Red Wings on Friday makes McCann a pretty compelling pick given his low price point.

Bargain Bin: Dominik Kahun (PIT) - $4,700 FanDuel/$4,100 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Tyler Johnson (TBL) - $4,300 FanDuel/$3,900 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Dominik Simon (PIT) - $4,100 FanDuel/$3,400 DraftKings/$11 Yahoo.

Cam Fowler (ANA) - $4,800 FanDuel, $5,000 DraftKings, $15 Yahoo

There isn’t much in the way of appealing defensemen to choose from tonight, so you may as well save some money by going with cheaper options. Fowler is one such example who has held his own recently. He has a goal and five points in his last six games, which brings him up to nine goals and 25 points in 47 contests.

Bargain Bin: Kevin Shattenkirk (TBL) - $4,300 FanDuel/$3,800 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Filip Hronek (DET) - $4,300 FanDuel/$4,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Neal Pionk (WPG) - $4,000 FanDuel/$4,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL) - $9,300 FanDuel, $8,000 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Vasilevskiy has won his last nine starts and has a 13-1-1 record dating back to Dec. 7th. Over that span he’s posted an incredible .932 save percentage. Tampa Bay’s next opponent, Winnipeg, is far from a walk in the park, but Vasilevskiy should be up for the challenge.

Bargain Bin: Petr Mrazek (CAR) - $8,500 FanDuel/$8,300 DraftKings/$30 Yahoo, Matt Murray (PIT) - $8,000 FanDuel/$8,200 DraftKings/$26 Yahoo
