NHL Plays: Monday

Updated On: December 9, 2019, 10:26 am ET

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are four games in the NHL on Monday.

Forwards

David Krejci (Boston) - C - $6,100 (FanDuel), $6,400 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)

Krejci is centering the top line with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak on his wings in the absence of number one center Patrice Bergeron, who is out with a lower-body injury. If Bergeron plays on Monday, take him instead of Krejci. Krejci has six goals and 21 points in 24 games.

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) – W - $8,200 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)

Kucherov got off to a slow start (for him) after leading the NHL with 128 points last season. But he has been on fire, save for last game, when he was held pointless. He had four goals and 13 points in his previous seven games and is a good take in DFS at this time.

Mikko Rantanen (Colorado) - W - $7,600 (FanDuel), $7,100(DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)

Rantanen returned to action just over a week ago and has a goal and six points in four games, including being held pointless Saturday. Look for Rantanen to return to the scoresheet Monday.

Bargain Bin:  Matthew Tkachuk (Calgary) - W - $6,400 (FanDuel)/$6,500 (DraftKings)/ $23 (Yahoo), Anthony Beauvillier (New York Islanders) - W - $5,000 (FanDuel)/$4,200 (DraftKings)/ $16 (Yahoo), Pierre-Luc Dubois (Columbus) – C - $5,200 (FanDuel)/$4,300 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo).

Defensemen:

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $6,700 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)

Hedman is on a five-game points streak with three goals and seven points, giving him seven goals and 27 points in only 25 games. Take him if you can fit him in your DFS lineup.

Samuel Girard (Colorado) - $3,700 (FanDuel), $2,800 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo)

Normally I would take Cale Makar here but he may be injured. Read Rotoworld Monday for the update. If Makar is unable to go, Girard will take his spot quarterbacking the vaunted Colorado power play.

Bargain Bin:

Ryan Pulock (New York Islanders) - $4,700 (FanDuel)/$4,400 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo), Matt Grzelcyk (Boston) - $4,100 (FanDuel), $3,100 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Tuukka Rask (Boston) - $8,900 (FanDuel), $8,100 (DraftKings), $37 (Yahoo)

The Boston netminder is 13-2-3 this season with a 2.15 GAA and a .929 save percentage. Rask is benefitting once again from having a great backup in Jaroslav Halak so he is not overworked. The Bruins are on the road but play Ottawa who are hovering near the basement in the overall NHL standings.

Bargain Bin:  Braden Holtby (Washington) $8,400 (FanDuel)/$8,300 (DraftKings)/ $35 (Yahoo)
