NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
Monday has 10 games on the schedule, including an early matchup between St. Louis and Arizona that has a 4:00 p.m. ET start time.
Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $8,600 (FanDuel), $8,800 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)
Matthews picked up at least one point in each of his last 12 appearances, including nine straight games since returning from a one-game absence due to injury. He has produced nine goals, three assists and 33 shots on target during that nine-game point spree. Matthews had one goal and one assist in his last meeting against Ottawa to give him 24 points (14 goals, 10 assists) in 17 career matches versus the Senators.
Joe Pavelski (Dallas) - C - $7,200 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)
Pavelski has scored a goal in each of his last two outings to give him nine goals and 17 points in 12 games this campaign. He has racked up three markers and four helpers in his previous two appearances against Nashville this season. Both of which were multi-point performances. Pavelski has seven goals and 11 points on the power play this year, which could be bad news for the 30th ranked penalty kill of the Predators.
Alex DeBrincat (Chicago) - W - $6,800 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)
DeBrincat has been firing on all cylinders this season with eight goals and eight assists following 12 games. He also brings exposure to Patrick Kane with a great cap hit on FanDuel. He has four multi-point efforts in six games this month, while accumulating six goals, four helpers and 27 shots on target. Additionally, he already has three assists and seven shots on goal versus Detroit this year. DeBrincat has 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in eight career meetings against the Red Wings.
Cam Atkinson (Columbus) - W - $6,500 (FanDuel), $5,700 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
Atkinson has heated up with four goals and four assists in the last five games. The bulk of that production has come during a three-game point streak (three goals, four assists), which he carries into Monday night’s action. Atkinson has fit in nicely alongside former Jets Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.
Ondrej Palat (Tampa Bay) - W - $5,800 (FanDuel), $5,100 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)
Palat has notched two goals and three helpers during a three-game point spree going into Monday night. That includes one goal and two assists in his previous two contests against Florida. Palat has some bang for the buck upside, especially if the Lightning get some power-play opportunities against the 25th overall penalty kill of the Panthers.
Paul Stastny (Winnipeg) - C - $5,200 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings), $16 (Yahoo)
Stastny has been hot and cold this season for Winnipeg, but he has one goal and two assists in his previous two matches against Edmonton this season. He is also slated to play between valuable wingers Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers on Monday night. That provides him with plenty of upside at a very good cap hit.

John Klingberg (Dallas) - $6,600 (FanDuel), $5,900 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
Klingberg has picked up one assist in each of his last two outings to go along with five shots on goal. He has had a productive start to the year with two goals and 12 points in 12 contests. Klingberg has four helpers, three shots, three hits and two blocks in two games against Nashville this season. He also ranks second on the Stars with nine power-play points, which could play a factor against Nashville’s dismal penalty kill.
Darnell Nurse (Edmonton) - $5,900 (FanDuel), $5,700 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)
Nurse is off to a tremendous start this season with six goals and 12 points in 16 games. He has scored a goal in five of the past six matches, while adding 18 shots, 16 hits and 12 blocks. Nurse also has fairly good cap hits across the board.
Bargain Bin: Quinn Hughes (VAN) - $5,700 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Tyson Barrie (EDM) - $5,600 (FanDuel), $ 5,400(DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo) Dougie Hamilton (CAR) - $5,400 (FanDuel), Seth Jones (CBJ) - $5,300 (FanDuel), $5,400 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo) Morgan Rielly (TOR) - $5,200 (FanDuel), $5,500 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Thomas Chabot (OTT) - $4,900 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo),
Semyon Varlamov (NY Islanders) - $8,200 (FanDuel), $8,200 (DraftKings), $39 (Yahoo)
Varlamov is coming off a strong performance against Boston on Saturday when he stopped 28 of 30 shots in a 4-2 victory. There’s a chance that Ilya Sorokin could play in this contest, which would make the decision interesting, but either netminder could work against what could be a rusty Buffalo squad. The Sabres have not played since Jan. 31, which was a 5-3 loss to New Jersey.
Jacob Markstrom (Calgary) - $8,100 (FanDuel), $7,900 (DraftKings), $36 (Yahoo)
Markstrom has been superb this season, especially when he has faced his former Vancouver teammates. He was impressive even in defeat on Saturday when he blocked 43 of 45 shots. Markstrom has a 3-1-0 record versus the Canucks this season to go along with a 1.26 goals-against average, a .964 save percentage and one shutout.
Bargain Bin: Kevin Lankinen (CHI) - $7,400 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings) $36 (Yahoo), John Gibson (ANH) - $6,800 (FanDuel), $7,600 (DraftKings) $35 (Yahoo), Linus Ullmark (BUF) - $7,000 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings) $31 (Yahoo)
