Updated On: January 12, 2020, 10:06 am ET

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are six games in the NHL on Sunday four games starting before 7:00 ET and two at 7:00 ET.

Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $8,800 (FanDuel), $7,900 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)

The second leading goal scorer in the NHL, Matthews has 31 in 45 games including seven in his last six games as well as four assists. He also has 30 shots on goal in the last six with no less than four in any game. He is a must-start as he is one of the hottest in the NHL.

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) – W - $8,300 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings), $32 (Yahoo)

Kucherov saw his six-game scoring streak end Saturday in a 1-0 win over the Flyers but he had four goals and nine points in his streak, to give him 17 goals and 49 points in 43 contests. He led the NHL in scoring last season with 128 points and while he likely will get between 90-100, he is capable of huge games at any time.

Bryan Rust (Pittsburgh) - W - $5,700 (FanDuel), $6,900(DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)

One of the most pleasant surprises in the NHL this season, Rust has 18 goals and 37 points in only 30 games as he has given the Penguins a much-needed offensive boost while so many regulars have been out including Sidney Crosby.  Rust is playing with Evgeni Malkin and it is hard to see any reason to take him off that line at anytime in the foreseeable future.

Bargain Bin:  Nico Hischier (New Jersey) - C - $5,400 (FanDuel), $5,200 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Noel Acciari (Florida) – W - $4,300 (FanDuel) $4,600 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Blake Coleman (New Jersey) – W- $4,700 (FanDuel) $4,600 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $6,000 (FanDuel), $6,400 (DraftKings), $25 (Yahoo)

It’s another great season for the Tampa Bay defenseman who has 40 points in 42 games thus far with 19 points on the power play. His career high is 72 points and he is on pace to smash that mark.

Roman Josi (Nashville) - $7,000 (FanDuel), $7,700 (DraftKings), $29 (Yahoo)

Josi would be the overwhelming favorite for the Norris Trophy had not John Carlson decided to break out with offensive numbers that are off the chart. But Josi is making a case for himself as he has 14 goals and 46 points in 43 games as well as having a current 12-game points streak in which he has seven goals and 20 points. Ride him while he is hot!

Bargain Bin:

Filip Hronek (Detroit) - $4,500 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Alexander Edler (Vancouver) - $4,900 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Linus Ullmark (Buffalo) - $7,200 (FanDuel), $7,900 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)

The Sabres take on the lowly Detroit Red Wings and Ullmark looks like a great pick, especially at his price in FanDuel and Yahoo! Ullmark is 4-0-2 against Detroit in his career with a .938 save percentage in the six contests. Take him today.

Bargain Bin:  Jacob Markstrom (Vancouver) - $7,200 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo)
