NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Forwards:

Brad Marchand (Boston) - W - $8,000 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)

A bout of food poisoning didn’t stop Marchand from extending his point streak to 10 straight games on Tuesday night.  He has five goals and 10 assists during that span along with five multi-point performances.  Marchand has collected three assists in two previous matches against Florida this season and should be able to continue his hot play.

John Tavares (Toronto) - C - $7,300 (FanDuel), $6,600 (DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)

Tavares’ five-game point streak was snapped on Tuesday night, but he has been held off the scoresheet just three times in his last 15 outings.  He has eight goals and nine helpers during that stretch, including six power-play points.  Los Angeles ranks 28th in the league in penalty kill percentage, which the Leafs could take advantage of on Thursday night.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Edmonton) - C - $7,200 (FanDuel), W - $6,200 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)

Nugent-Hopkins is far less expensive than his Oilers teammates Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, but he offers plenty of offensive upside.  He has generated six goals and 21 points in 13 games going into Thursday night’s action.  Nugent-Hopkins has seven multi-point efforts during that span, with three coming in the last three games.  He has collected two goals and six helpers over that time.  RNH also has 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 25 career games versus Chicago, including one goal and two assists in two contests this year.

Kevin Fiala (Minnesota) - W - $6,400 (FanDuel), $6,800 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Fiala has racked up seven goals and 13 points in his past eight outings.  He has a five-game point streak going into Thursday night’s slate, with five goals and six assists coming during that span.  Fiala has registered a multi-point performance in each of those matches.  His price tag has been on the rise, but he can still be fit into most lineups.

Pavel Buchnevich (New York Rangers) - W - $5,300 (FanDuel), $4,300 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)

Buchnevich has plenty of bang for the buck potential for Thursday night.  He has eight goals and 15 points in his last 17 appearances, including one goal, two assists and eight shots in his last three outings.  Buchnevich has been logging big minutes alongside Mika Zibanejad and he already has two goals and one assist in two previous matches against Washington this campaign.

Conor Sheary (Pittsburgh) - W - $3,700 (FanDuel), $3,600 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo)

Sheary picked up one goal and one assist in Tuesday’s win over Ottawa for his first points in four games since rejoining the Penguins.  He has been playing alongside Sidney Crosby since he was reacquired from Buffalo and now he will play against his former team.  Sheary has had plenty of success versus the Sabres in the past with five goals and eight points in eight games.

Bargain Bin: Anthony Cirelli (TB) - C - $4,700 (FanDuel)/$5,000 (DraftKings)/$16 (Yahoo), Jean-Gabriel Pageau (NYI) - C - $5,500 (FanDuel)/$5,100 (DraftKings)/$19 (Yahoo), Kailer Yamamoto (EDM) - W - $4,600 (FanDuel)/$5,200 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo), Alex Iafallo (LA) - W - $5,100 (FanDuel)/$5,400 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo), Dylan Strome (CHI) - C - $4,000 (FanDuel)/$3,500 (DraftKings)/W - $17 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - D - $6,100 (FanDuel), $6,700 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)

Hedman has picked up 11 assists and 36 shots in 13 matches going into Thursday’s matchup against Montreal.  He has compiled five assists and four shots in three games versus the Canadiens this season.  Hedman has a personal best 34 points (six goals, 28 assists) in 36 career contests against Montreal.

John Klingberg (Dallas) - D - $5,600 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Klingberg has provided 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in his last 15 appearances.  He has earned two goals and three assists during a four-game point streak.  Klingberg has two power-play points during that span and the Stars will look to take advantage of Nashville’s 29th-ranked penalty kill percentage.

Bargain Bin: Duncan Keith (CHI) - $5,300 (FanDuel)/$5,300 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo) Torey Krug (BOS) - $5,600 (FanDuel)/$5,200 (DraftKings)/$20 (Yahoo), John Marino (PIT) - $3,700 (FanDuel)/$ 3,400 (DraftKings)/$15 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Jaroslav Halak (Boston) - G - $8,700 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings), $33 (Yahoo)

Halak has won his last six starts and he has surrendered two goals or fewer four times during that span.  Florida has been struggling down the stretch, especially at home where they have lost seven in a row.  The Panthers have been held to two goals or fewer six times during that span.  Halak also stopped 31 of 33 shots in a 4-2 win over Florida on Dec. 14.

Anton Khudobin (Dallas) - G - $8,300 (FanDuel), $7,300 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)

Khudobin is coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Edmonton on Tuesday night, but he has superb between the pipes of late.  He has a 5-0-3 record in his last nine appearances with a .934 save percentage during that span.  Khudobin could be in line for another start against a Predators team that has lost three straight games because Ben Bishop is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Bargain Bin: Martin Jones (SJ) - $7,700 (FanDuel)/$7,700 (DraftKings)/$31 (Yahoo), Semyon Varlamov (NYI) - $7,600 (FanDuel)/$7,500 (DraftKings)/$33 (Yahoo), Corey Crawford (CHI) - $7,800 (FanDuel)/$7,900 (DraftKings)/$29 (Yahoo), Frederik Andersen (TOR) - $24 (Yahoo)
