NHL Plays: Tuesday

DRAFT is back for another season of quick and exciting daily fantasy action. Their DFS platform offers poolies with a chance to participate in a format that most of us have grown very accustomed to over the years. You can compete in a live snake draft in which the participants take a player with each pick. Unlike other DFS games, this gives you the opportunity to use your knowledge to craft a team that no one else will have because the players you select cannot be chosen by your competition.

The draft is quick as you are allotted just 30 seconds per pick and you take five players. Your team is comprised of three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

Your strategy can be dictated by the positions being selected ahead of you. For instance, if you are going last and everyone else has a goaltender then you can wait until your last pick to make that selection. Of course, selecting players going up against weaker competition or players who are riding hot streaks are always popular strategies as well.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rues and enjoy! It’s a great game! Tuesday’s 10-game slate features 10-person, eight-person, six-person and plenty of three-person drafts. There are also head-to-heads to participate in.

Forward Rankings:

It will be the second game in two nights for Tampa Bay, but their top guns have been firing on all cylinders. Kucherov also has two goals and six points in three previous meetings versus Montreal this year. The Bruins could have their hands full with the red-hot Blue Jackets, but the top line is usually a reliable source of offense. McDavid and Draisaitl have been rolling despite Edmonton’s disappointing season. Member of the Stars, Predators, Penguins, Red Wings and Sharks should be of interest to you as well for Tuesday night.

Defense Rankings:

Burns has been excellent this season and he has four helpers in three games against Vancouver in 2018-19. Barrie is also having a superb year and he has been hot for the Avalanche down the stretch. Edler, Klingberg, Ekman-Larsson and Trouba have been productive recently. Sergachev has one goal and three assists in two games since Hedman was injured. Josi is a dangerous player from the back end, but he hasn’t picked up a point in his last eight outings, which is why he failed to make the cut.

Goaltender Rankings:

Kuemper just earned the NHL’s third star of the week after he went 2-0-1 with a 0.65 goals-against average, .979 save percentage and two shutouts. He will face a Kings team that played the night before and should be treated as the top goaltender for Tuesday’s slate. Rinne, Jones and Khudobin have favorable matchups. So does Murray even though Detroit has been playing better of late. Bobrovsky will face the Bruins, which won’t be easy, but his play recently could warrant an early selection. He was the NHL’s first star of the week after he went 4-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average, a .966 save percentage and two shutouts. Dubnyk could be an under-the-radar selection, as he has been superb versus Winnipeg this year. He has gone 3-0-0 against the Jets with a 1.67 goals-against average and .943 save percentage. Grubauer may not start back-to-back nights, but if he does then he will have value against Edmonton. McElhinney could be a sneaky pick after he beat his former Leafs teammates earlier this year. The Lightning may start Edward Pasquale in the second part of a back-to-back set, which could give Montreal and Price an edge in that matchup.
