NHL Plays: Wednesday

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.  

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $8,400 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo) 

Matthews has been heating up again with two goals and one assist in the last two games.  He has also enjoyed plenty of success against Detroit in his career with 10 goals and 16 points in 12 contests.    

Artemi Panarin (New York Rangers) - W - $8,500 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo) 

Panarin has been firing on all cylinders with eight goals and 24 points in the past 15 games.  He has been held off the scoresheet in just one match during that span.  Panarin has nine multi-point performances in that stretch, including five in his last six outings.  He also had one goal and one assist versus Carolina on Nov. 7.  Panarin has three goals and eight points in 13 career meetings versus the Hurricanes.    

Teuvo Teravainen (Carolina) - W - $7,100 (FanDuel), $6,300 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo) 

Teravainen has compiled five goals and 12 assists in the past 13 games.  He has two goals and five helpers during a three-game point streak going into Wednesday’s action.  Teravainen had one assist and three shots in his previous appearance versus the New York Rangers on Nov. 7.  

Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida) - W - $7,700 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo) 

Huberdeau has been held off the scoresheet in each of the last two games, but it will be only be a matter of time before he’s producing again.  He has five goals and 12 assists in the past 12 matches.  Huberdeau picked up one assist against Washington on Nov. 7 and he has 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) over 21 career meetings versus the Capitals.  

Evgeny Kuznetsov (Washington) - C - $7,900 (FanDuel), $7,300 (DraftKings), $25 (Yahoo) 

Kuznetsov has generated five goals and eight helpers in the last 10 games.  He will center the top line again between Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson because Nicklas Backstrom isn’t ready to return from an upper-body injury yet.  He is also seeing time on the top power-play unit.  Additionally, Kuznetsov collected three assists against Florida back on Nov. 7 to give him 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 16 career contests versus the Panthers.      

Andre Burakovsky (Colorado) - W - $5,300 (FanDuel), $6,200 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo) 

Burakovsky has six goals and three assists during a five-game point streak going into Wednesday night.  He has recorded four multi-point efforts during that span.  Burakovsky has plenty of bang for the buck potential, while skating on the first line with Nathan MacKinnon and seeing time on the top power-play unit.

Zach Werenski (Columbus) - $6,000 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Werenski has accounted for three goals and six assists during a seven-game point streak heading into Wednesday night’s action.  He has four power-play points during that span, while skating on Columbus’ top unit.  

Tyson Barrie (Toronto) - $4,500 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo) 

Barrie has started to heat up this season with two goals and three assists over a four-game point streak.  He has scored a goal in each of the past two matches and he has two power-play points during his recent scoring spree.  Barrie has been working on the top power-play unit since Sheldon Keefe took over behind the bench.  

Bargain Bin: Tony DeAngelo (NYR) - $4,600 (FanDuel0/$4,600 (DraftKings)/$18 (Yahoo), Shea Theodore (VGK) - $4,300 (FanDuel)/$4,400 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo), Quinn Hughes (VAN) - $4,600 (FanDuel)/$4,200 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo)


Frederik Andersen (Toronto) - $8,200 (FanDuel), $8,400 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo) 

Andersen has won his last two outings, while stopping 64 of 68 shots and registering a .941 save percentage.  He has quickly rounded back into form.  Andersen stopped 25 of 27 shots in a win over Detroit back on Oct 12 and he has gone 8-0-1 against the Red Wings in his career.  That includes a 2.53 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.  Additionally, he is 5-2-0 on the road this year with a 2.42 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.  

Joonas Korpisalo (Columbus) - $7,700 (FanDuel), $7,700 (DraftKings), $31 (Yahoo)

Korpisalo is coming off a 25-save shutout win over Ottawa on Monday.  He has won each of his last four starts, while turning aside 102 of the 110 shots he has faced.  Korpisalo has a .927 save percentage during that span.  Additionally, Philadelphia has been held to two goals or fewer in seven of the club’s last nine outings.
