NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Forwards:

Connor McDavid (Edmonton) - C - $8,800 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo)

McDavid has registered a pair of three-point performances since returning from a quad injury. He had two goals on four shots in a 4-2 win over Vegas back on Nov. 23 to give him seven markers and 15 points in nine career matches versus the Golden Knights.  McDavid and the Oilers will be playing for the second time in as many nights, but that shouldn’t slow him down.  He has three goals five helpers in five matches this year on zero days rest.  McDavid can be stacked with new linemates Andreas Athanasiou and Tyler Ennis very easily as well.

Reilly Smith (Vegas) - W - $5,100 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

Smith has five goals and nine points in 11 outings this month, including four goals and two assists during a five-game point streak going into Wednesday night’s action.  Additionally, Smith has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 20 career matches against Edmonton.

Conor Sheary (Pittsburgh) - W - $3,900 (FanDuel), $3,400 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo)

Sheary is slated to play alongside Sidney Crosby and Jason Zucker in his return to the Pittsburgh lineup.  He was acquired from Buffalo prior to Monday’s trade deadline.  Sheary meshed nicely with Crosby in the past and he offers plenty of bang for the buck upside on Wednesday night.

Bargain Bin: Andre Burakovsky (COL) - W - $5,500 (FanDuel)/$5,000 (DraftKings)/$20 (Yahoo), Andreas Athanasiou (EDM) - W - $4,800 (FanDuel)/$4,500 (DraftKings)/$15 (Yahoo), Paul Stastny (VGK) - C - $5,200 (FanDuel)/$4,600 (DraftKings)/$18 (Yahoo), Kyle Okposo (BUF) - W - $3,400 (FanDuel)/$2,800 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo)

Defensemen

Shea Theodore (VGK) - D - $5,700 (FanDuel), $5,800 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)

Theodore is a good alternative if you don’t want to spend up for Kris Letang.  He has collected 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 11 matches this month.  Theodore has one goal, two helpers and 15 shots during a three-game point spree going into Wednesday night’s slate.

Bargain Bin: Rasmus Ristolainen (BUF) - $4,500 (FanDuel)/$4,500 (DraftKings)/$17 (Yahoo), Ryan Graves (COL) - $4,300 (FanDuel)/$4,800 (DraftKings)/$19 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Pavel Francouz (Colorado) - G - $8,600 (FanDuel), $8,500 (DraftKings), $29 (Yahoo)

Francouz has gone 3-0-0 in his last three starts.  He has one shutout and he’s stopped 73 of 75 shots for a .973 save percentage during that span.  Buffalo has been better lately, but the team has struggled on the road this year with a mark of 10-15-4.

Bargain Bin: Tristan Jarry (PIT) - 7,800 (DraftKings)
