NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
There are six games scheduled for tonight.
David Pastrnak (Boston) – W - $8,500 FanDuel, $8,800 DraftKings, $35 Yahoo
Pastrnak has recorded multiple points in back-to-back games and three of his last four contests. He’s up to nine goals and 18 points in 12 contests. In terms of points-per-game, he’s in third place behind only Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid.
Logan Couture (San Jose) – W - $7,700 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo
Couture is going into tonight’s action on a four-game point streak. He’s also recorded at least a point in nine of his last 11 contests. That gives him 11 goals and 19 points in 19 games this season.
Ryan O'Reilly (St. Louis) – C - $6,800 FanDuel, $5,500 DraftKings, $23 Yahoo
O'Reilly has recorded at least a point in three straight games and four of his last five contests. He’s up to seven goals and 20 points in 22 contests. The Blues will be facing Anaheim on Wednesday, which is on a seven-game losing streak.
Bargain Bin: Phil Kessel (ARI) - $6,700 FanDuel/$4,000 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Nazem Kadri (COL) - $6,600 FanDuel/$5,300 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, William Nylander (TOR) - $6,600 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo, Timo Meier (SJS) - $5,600 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Mats Zuccarello (MIN) - $5,500 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) - $5,300 FanDuel/$4,100 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo
Tyson Barrie (Edmonton) - $5,400 FanDuel, $6,200 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo
Barrie has scored three goals and 18 points in 24 contests this season, which is great numbers for his price point. In fact, they’re just impressive numbers for a blueliner regardless of his price. He’s tied for fifth in the league’s defenseman scoring race.
Morgan Rielly (Toronto) - $5,400 FanDuel, $5,300 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo
The defenseman Barrie is tied with is Morgan Rielly, who has three goals and 18 points in 23 games. As you can see, which defenseman will give you better value depends on the site you’re playing on. They’re the same on FanDuel and Rielly is a bit more expensive on Yahoo, but Rielly is a significantly better option if you’re playing on DraftKings today.
Bargain Bin: Samuel Girard (COL) - $5,100 FanDuel/$4,100 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Cam Fowler (ANA) - $4,700 FanDuel/$3,300 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Jake Muzzin (TOR) - $4,500 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jakob Chychrun (ARI) - $4,400 FanDuel/$6,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Justin Faulk (STL) - $4,400 FanDuel/$4,600 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Brenden Dillon (WAS) - $3,900 FanDuel/$2,700 DraftKings/$12 Yahoo
Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas) - $8,500 FanDuel, $8,200 DraftKings, $38 Yahoo
Fleury was projected to start the season as the backup goaltender, but Robin Lehner has been injured and Fleury has more than simply filled the void. He’s been one of the league’s top goaltenders in 2020-21 with a 10-3-0 record, 1.77 GAA, and .935 save percentage in 13 starts.
