NHL Plays: Wednesday

DRAFT is back for another season of quick and exciting daily fantasy action. Their DFS platform offers poolies with a chance to participate in a format that most of us have grown very accustomed to over the years. You can compete in a live snake draft in which the participants take a player with each pick. Unlike other DFS games, this gives you the opportunity to use your knowledge to craft a team that no one else will have because the players you select cannot be chosen by your competition.

The draft is quick as you are allotted just 30 seconds per pick and you take five players. Your team is comprised of three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

Your strategy can be dictated by the positions being selected ahead of you. For instance, if you are going last and everyone else has a goaltender then you can wait until your last pick to make that selection. Of course, selecting players going up against weaker competition or players who are riding hot streaks are always popular strategies as well.

Editor's Note: If you love Fantasy Football you have to be playing on DRAFT. It's daily fantasy football snake drafts instead of salary caps. All the fun of season long drafts but with no management and they last for just one week. They take minutes to complete and there's even auction drafts! No more setting lineups or constantly worrying about pros, just draft and win! Right now DRAFT is giving Rotoworld readers an exclusive FREE entry into a real money draft when you make your first deposit! Here's the link

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rues and enjoy! It’s a great game! Wednesday’s three-game slate features plenty of three-person drafts as well as head-to-heads.

Forward Rankings:

The rematch of 2018 Stanley Cup Final will take center stage on Wednesday night and it will feature most of the more attractive players. However, you shouldn’t discount the injury-depleted Ducks, as the club will host the offensively-challenged Coyotes. Philadelphia will play for the second time in two nights, but they will be anxious to bounce back from a disastrous home opener when they visit the Ottawa Senators.

Defense Rankings:

Carlson has enjoyed a great start to the year with two goals, two assists and six shots after two games. Gostisbehere is still trying to get going this season, but he scored Tuesday night and had six shots on target.  He also has six points in nine career contests against the Senators, which includes three helpers in three outings in 2017-18. Fowler and Chabot could make for productive choices as well.

Goaltender Rankings:

Gibson is the best option available for Wednesday’s slate by a wide margin if he gets the call. The Anaheim netminder has a 3-0-0 record with a 1.30 goals-against average, a .958 save percentage and one shutout. The Coyotes have not scored a goal in two games this year and Gibson has already blanked them once. Holtby was excellent versus Vegas in the playoffs last year and he will be seeking a bounce-back effort after he was blitzed by Pittsburgh last Thursday. The Golden Knights have also had a sluggish start to 2018-19. Anderson could have some sleeper value against the Flyers. Philadelphia may give Calvin Pickard the nod and that isn’t a particularly safe option, but it is there if you like the Flyers.  The team also could decide to turn back to Elliott. At least with Anderson, you get a goaltender who is capable of stealing games, which is what he did to an extent this past Saturday against Toronto.

Now, let’s also look at some players to consider for FanDuel and DraftKings. Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL).

T.J. Oshie (WSH) - W - $6,200 (FanDuel), $6,700 (DraftKings)

Thomas Chabot (OTT) - D - $4,300 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings)

Zack Smith (OTT) - W - $3,300 (FanDuel), C - $4,300 (DraftKings)

Maxime Comtois (ANA) - W - $3,300 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings)

Oshie isn’t exactly a bargain, but has two multi-point performances to start the season. He has three goals, two assists and seven shots during that span. Chabot has been all over the scoresheet early this year with two goals and three assists during a three-game point streak. Smith also has a three-game point spree to begin 2018-19 with one goal and three helpers. Comtois has under-the-radar value as well. The rookie has two goals and one assist over a three-game point spree.
