Today, we'll be giving you a look at the guide's exclusive positional outlier column series with the below excerpt from the Shortstop Outliers.

Take a look:

SS outliers

Christopher Crawford had Fernando Tatis Jr. at 8. The composite ranking was 5.

I am a little surprised to see that I'm the low man on Tatis, but I get it. He's a potential superstar that more than held his own in his rookie year with the Padres. The only reason I have him ranked this "low" – if you want to call being eighth at a strong position low – is that there are some hitters I trust a little more, like Bogaerts and Baez. Would it shock me if Tatis ended up outscoring these players? Absolutely not; I think he can end up being the best shortstop in baseball. I just think there's a little more safety in the names I have ranked ahead, and those players offer plenty of upside, as well. – Christopher Crawford (@Crawford_MILB)
