This Draft Guide preview includes part of the 8-cat mock conducted by Jonas Nader (@JonasNader)!

“For our next mock exclusive to the Rotoworld Draft Guide, we ran a 12-team, 8-category head-to-head league using points, assists, rebounds, 3s, steals, blocks, FG% and FT%. We did this mock on September 23rd shortly after Yahoo updated their pre-draft ranks, so this will give you an idea of which way the market is going for your favorite targets. Joining me in this mock will be my Rotoworld colleague Jared and 10 other hardcore fantasy owners.

Round 1

1          Stephen Curry(GS - PG,SG)     Joe's team

2          Karl-Anthony Towns(Min - C) Matt's Team

3          James Harden(Hou - PG,SG)   Coltin's Team

4          Anthony Davis(LAL - PF,C)      Austin's Team

5          Giannis Antetokounmpo(Mil - SF,PF) Jared's Team

6          Nikola Jokic(Den - PF,C)          MarkS's Team

7          Damian Lillard(Por - PG)         Jonas's Team

8          Kawhi Leonard(LAC - SG,SF)   Derek's Team

9          Bradley Beal(Was - SG)           Branthoover

10        Joel Embiid(Phi - PF,C) Scott's Team

11        Jrue Holiday(NO - PG,SG)       nestor's Team

12        LeBron James(LAL - SF,PF)      O.K.'s Team

I’ve yet to see a competitive draft in which the top-5 is any different (apart from the order), as they all have a case to go No. 1. Lillard and Jokic seem to be the consensus picks at No. 6 and No. 7, and then the draft can go any direction depending on your league settings and difficulty.

My Pick: Dame is in the second tier of elite fantasy prospects, he rarely misses games and is still in his prime at age 29. I also didn’t want a load management candidate or a guy who forces me into a punt build, so I was thrilled to walk away with Dame here.

Favorite Pick: I’ll exclude the top-7 for obvious reasons, but I’m all in on Jrue as a first-round player this year.  People point to his injury history as a reason to fade, but his last two season-ending injuries were flukes (orbital fracture and sports hernia). Pelicans GM David Griffin has talked Jrue up as a dark-horse MVP candidate, he gets a 4% usage rate bump without Anthony Davis and he was 12th in 9-cat over his final 10 games with 22.6 points, 6.2 dimes, 4.3 boards, 2.0 steals, 0.7 blocks and 2.4 triples. Oh, and the Pelicans should lead the NBA in pace.

Least Favorite Pick: Kawhi Leonard. I don’t want LeBron in the first round this year either, but Kawhi’s DNPs are hard to stomach if he’s your best player. Last season he missed 22 games, and while that number could be closer to 15 this year, there’s just too much risk here for a guy with chronic quad issues.”
