FanDuel Fit: Sanderson Farms Championship

We are just six weeks away from the next major championship. In a time when many golfers would previously be going through the motions until holiday break, they are now beginning their ramp-up period in hopes of finding form right before the big event at Augusta National.

After a coastal treat at the Corales, the TOUR heads north but stays in the South for this week's Sanderson Farms Championship. It's hosted by the Country Club of Jackson.

It's not a strong field but certainly not too shabby either. With 144 runners and just 65 plus ties making it through the cut, getting 6-of-6 golfers will be a tough task.

Let's pull up some course-fit stats to see if we might find a few gems hidden in the rough that will help you toward that journey of drafing the perfect FanDuel lineup.

Bermudagrass Greens

After some slow paspalum greens last week, the field will see very slick bermudagrass surfaces this week. They generally run 12+ feet on the stimp and are some of the purest they'll see all year. Let's see who has performed best on courses with bermuda greens, over the last two years:

Sergio Garcia
Sungjae Im
Jhonattan Vegas
Byeong Hun An
Will Zalatoris
Rory Sabbatini
Scottie Scheffler
Tom Lewis
Corey Conners
Denny McCarthy
Chez Reavie
Bud Cauley
J.T. Poston
Talor Gooch
Keith Mitchell

We can also look at a golfer's performance versus their baseline to see who over-performs most. Here is that list:

Jhonattan Vegas
Will Zalatoris
Kramer Hickok
Tom Lewis
Rory Sabbatini
Keith Mitchell
Maverick McNealy
Byeong Hun An
Kyle Stanley
Corey Conners
Sergio Garcia
Sung Kang
Patton Kizzire
Chris Kirk
Denny McCarthy

Overlap List: names that show up on both lists include Sergio Garcia, Jhonattan Vegas, Byeong Hun An, Will Zalatoris, Rory Sabbatini, Tom Lewis, Corey Conners, Denny McCarthy, and Keith Mitchell

That's a lot of names! It turns out there are a lot of "specialists" when it comes to comfort on bermuda.

Long Courses

The Country Club of Jackson stretches to nearly 7,500 yards. There are three par 4s over 475 yards and three par 5s that stretch out past 580 yards. Let's see what golfers have performed best on courses with similar length:

Corey Conners
Zach Johnson
Scottie Scheffler
Brandt Snedeker
Talor Gooch
Lucas Glover
Vaughn Taylor
Sungjae Im
Rafa Cabrera Bello
Adam Schenk
Scott Piercy
Si Woo Kim
Carlos Ortiz

We can also look at a golfer's performance versus their baseline to see who over-performs most. Here is that list:

Robert Streb
Scott Brown
Robby Shelton
Zac Blair
Corey Conners
Beau Hossler
Talor Gooch
Si Woo Kim
Brian Stuard
Adam Schenk
Wyndham Clark
Xinjun Zhang
Vaughn Taylor
Brandt Snedeker
Carlos Ortiz

Overlap List: names that show up on both lists include Corey Conners, Brandt Snedeker, Talor Gooch, Vaughn Taylor, Adam Schenk, Si Woo Kim, and Carlos Ortiz

FanDuel Focus

Adam Schenk ($8,500): He's extremely affordable for a golfer that arrives with eight straight cuts made. He doesn't get into contention all that often but a cut made will do the trick at this price tag. He's also 3-for-3 at the CC of Jackson with a T43, a T7, and T36 over the last three years. He's posted par or better in all 12 rounds played at this venue.

Corey Conners ($10,400): There are a few ways to attack long courses and Conners does it with his elite ball-striking. He finished last season ranked 20th in Driving Accuracy and 6th in GIR Percentage. It's easy to avoid the big numbers if you are hitting fairways and greens all week. The problem is that he arrives with back-to-back missed cuts. Could be a good spot to reinvest at potential low ownership. He posted a runner-up finish at this event two years ago so there should be some good vibes on property.
