Injury Roundup: Week 7

The bulk of your fantasy injury news will come from the Buffalo Bills this week as both of their starting running backs suffered significant injuries against the Vikings on Sunday.

C.J. Spiller took his second touch of the game 53 yards, but was tackled and landed on his shoulder hard, breaking his collarbone in the process. He will have surgery on Monday, effectively ending his season. Spiller’s season had been a disappointment as he was used as an early down, between the tackles runner more often than not.

Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-week $2.5 Million Fantasy Football league for Week 8's games. It's only $25 to join and first prize is $500,000. Starts Sunday, October 26th at 1pm ET. Here's the link.

Fred Jackson had gone down earlier in the game with a groin injury. He had to be helped off the field and was later carted off. He has already been ruled out for Week 8 and then gets the Week 9 bye. The hope is that he will be able to return for Week 10, but I don’t think we can count on that. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown both will need to be picked up, with Brown being the priority even though he’s been a healthy scratch this season. He is much more skilled than Dixon as a runner and the Bills will need him to help replace their two best runners.

Coach Jim Caldwell said Reggie Bush's ankle was bugging him during their bout with the Saints. Bush finished with just nine touches against his old team and didn't play very much in the second half.  It doesn’t appear that he did any major damage, but we’ll see how much practice he can get in this week.

Pierre Thomas left the Saints matchup with the Lions with a shoulder injury. Trainers were examining him early in the second half but Thomas was able to play through the injury until he took a hard hit. He walked to the locker room under his own power. Hopefully we'll get an update on his injury soon, as any clarity on the Saints backfield is hard to come by usually.

Trent Richardson left the game against the Bengals with a hamstring injury and didn’t return. The Colts had the game in hand, so this may just be precautionary, but it would be nice to see Ahmad Bradshaw get the bulk of the work for their Week 8 game against Pittsburgh.

James Starks hurt his ankle in the third quarter and did not return, but much like Richardson, there wasn’t much reason for him to risk it in a blowout.  He was on the sidelines with his helmet, so his absence was most likely precautionary, but we’ll need some updates to be sure.
