Welcome to the Week 9 Injury Roundup. There were a few big injuries to some fantasy starters, so let's get right to the damage.
A Comcast Philadelphia source confirmed that Nick Foles suffered a broken collarbone in the Eagles win over the Texans on Sunday. We’ll need to wait for a Monday MRI to help determine exactly how long he'll be out, but a 4-6 week timetable looks to be the best we could hope for. For a comparison, Aaron Rodgers missed seven weeks last year with a broken collarbone.
Mark Sanchez took over after Foles went out and threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns in three quarters. With the pace and weapons in this offense, Sanchez should be able to put up good enough numbers to help in fantasy and looks to be a must waiver add, especially if Foles was your quarterback.
Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-week $3 Million Fantasy Football league for Week 10's games. It's only $25 to join and first prize is $500,000. Starts Sunday, November 9th at 1pm ET. Here's the link.
Arian Foster left the Texans loss to the Eagles with yet another soft tissue injury, this time to his groin. ESPN Texans reporter Tania Ganguli senses "some pessimism" on Arian Foster's injury, so we’ll really need to learn more about the severity before knowing a timetable for his return. Montee Ball has now missed four games with his groin injury, but of course his may have been more severe. The Texans do have their bye next week, so that gives him some extra time to heal up, but Alfred Blue, who rushed 13 times for 78 yards when Foster missed Week 3, will of course be a recommended pickup if he’s not already owned.
Lamar Miller had a left shoulder injury that knocked him out of Sunday's blowout of the Chargers. We’ll be waiting on the MRI of this one as well. He said after the game, "it was just a stinger but I'm good. I'll be fine once I get treatment." That sounds good, but we’ve learned not to believe much of anything a player says about their own injuries. Miller's backups are the uninspiring Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas. Let’s hope the MRI comes back clean.
Philip Rivers had a horrible afternoon against the Dolphins and looked to have been replaced by his backup Kellen Clemens with the game out of hand, but then the Chargers announced he left due to a hand injury. There are no reports that it is something to worry about at the moment and the Chargers have a bye week to gather their wits about them.
Ronnie Hillman's owners survived a scare after he hurt his ankle early in the Broncos loss to the Patriots, and ended up scoring two touchdowns. He later went on to miss most of the fourth quarter, but there was no announcement that he left due to injury. Hopefully they were just giving him a rest after the earlier ankle tweak in a game where they were down fairly big.
Wes Welker was forced from Denver's game against the Patriots with a back injury after taking a huge hit on a bobble that turned into an interception. He wasn’t able to get much revenge on his old team before that with three receptions for 31 yards. He’s quickly becoming a non-factor in fantasy.
