Injury Report: Week 6

by Raymond Summerlin
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

The sixth weekend of the fantasy football season is here, and the Rotoworld crew has everything you need to lock up a win. Patrick Daugherty answers your lineup questions with his Week 6 Rankings, Nick Mensio tells you who to start and who to fade in Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em, and Evan Silva breaks down every matchup in his award-winning Matchups Column

As for me, I am here to shed light on the most important injury situations facing fantasy owners heading into the weekend. The sister resource to this column is the Rotoworld News Page, which will have every inactive and all the late-breaking news up to kickoff and beyond. I also occasionally tweet about football @RMSummerlin.

Early Games
Rams @ Lions
*The Rams got some good news on their offensive line when DT Michael Brockers (hip), DE William Hayes (ankle), and DE Robert Quinn (shoulder) returned to limited practices Friday. All three are listed as questionable. Brian Quick (calf) was also listed as questionable after being added to the injury report as limited Friday. Late-week additions are never good, and he will not be a fantasy option even if he plays. CB Trumaine Johnson (ankle) is out.

*With Theo Riddick (ankle) out and Dwayne Washington (ankle) questionable, newly-signed RB Justin Forsett could see a lot of work against a banged-up Rams defense. He is a desperation option in deeper leagues. Zach Zenner should also get some run. Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) could miss a couple games, and WLB DeAndre Levy (quad, knee) and DT Haloti Ngata (shoulder) are also out. On the bright side, Ziggy Ansah (ankle, questionable) could return after getting in limited practices all week. Anquan Boldin (ankle), S Don Carey (ribs), DT A'Shawn Robinson (shoulder), LG Laken Tomlinson (neck), and RG Larry Warford (hip) are also questionable.

Bengals @ Patriots
*Despite the Bengals leaking the injury was minor when it happened last week, Tyler Eifert is set to miss his second game in a row with a back injury after sitting out the first month with an ankle issue. With no timetable on his return, Eifert is not a must-stash, and he is a great case study on why to avoid injury optimism (cc: Dion Lewis, Ladarius Green). A.J. Green (calf) and Jeremy Hill (chest) practiced in full Thursday and Friday.

*Rob Gronkowski (hamstring, illness), Julian Edelman (foot), LeGarrette Blount (hip), Martellus Bennett (ankle), and LB Jamie Collins (hip) are among the 12 Patriots listed as questionable. Gronk missed practice Friday with an illness, but he should be good to go. There is not much concern about the other names on the list either. OLB Jonathan Freeny (shoulder) and TE Greg Scruggs (knee) are out.

Ravens @ Giants
*OLB Elvis Dumervil (foot) has been ruled out, and the Ravens listed Steve Smith Sr. (ankle), LT Ronnie Stanley (foot), RG Marshal Yanda (shoulder), ILB C.J. Mosley (thigh), and PR/KR Devin Hester (thigh) as doubtful. Already weak, the offensive line could be in big trouble with Yanda sidelined. Mike Wallace (chest, questionable) does look poised to play after getting in two full practices. RT Rick Wagner (thigh), S Kendrick Lewis (thigh), and ILB Albert McClellan (calf) look truly questionable.

*Rashad Jennings (thumb, questionable) and Larry Donnell (concussion) are expected to return this week, but neither is a realistic play in a tough matchup. CB Eli Apple (groin) is listed as questionable, but he did not practice at all this week. Jason Pierre-Paul (groin), CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin), LB Devon Kennard (concussion), and WR Dwayne Harris (toe) are also questionable, but they have a better shot to play. RT Marshall Newhouse (calf), S Darian Thompson (foot), and S Nat Berhe (concussion) are out.

Panthers @ Saints
*Cam Newton (concussion) and Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) are expected to return despite questionable tags, and Kelvin Benjamin (knee, questionable) should be able to play after practicing on a limited basis Friday. Carolina will be without CBs James Bradberry (toe) and Robert McClain (hamstring), DTs Vernon Butler (ankle) and Paul Soliai (foot), and LT Michael Oher (concussion).

*Mark Ingram sat out Thursday with an illness, but he returned Friday and was not listed on the final report. LB James Laurinaitis (quad), DE Paul Kruger (back), TE Josh Hill (ankle), and OG Senio Kelemete (hamstring) are questionable. LT Terron Armstead (knee), CB Delvin Breaux (fibula), and LB Dannell Ellerbe (quad) remain out.

Steelers @ Dolphins
*Markus Wheaton (shoulder) is out, but Eli Rogers (toe) is back and Sammie Coates (questionable) is expected to play through his lacerated hand. RT Marcus Gilbert (ankle), DE Cameron Heyward (hamstring), LB Ryan Shazier (knee), S Shamarko Thomas (groin), and C Cody Wallace (knee) are out.

*Arian Foster (hamstring, questionable) got in limited practices all week and is expected to be a game-time decision. Jay Ajayi will once again get the start if Foster sits. S Isa Abdul-Quddus (knee), WR Jakeem Grant (ankle), TE MarQueis Gray (calf), LB Jelani Jenkins (groin), S Reshad Jones (groin), C Anthony Steen (ankle), and LG Laremy Tunsil (ankle) are also questionable. Tunsil should play after getting in a full practice Friday. Losing Jones would be a big hit to an already terrible secondary. Jordan Cameron (concussion) and CB Xavien Howard (knee) remain out.

Jags @ Bears
*Julius Thomas (elbow) practiced in full all week, and FS Tashaun Gipson (knee) was able to get in a full session Friday. Neither is listed on the final report. RB Corey Grant (toe), WR Rashad Greene (Achilles’), and TE Neal Sterling (foot) are questionable.

*Jay Cutler (right thumb), DT Eddie Goldman (ankle), and Jeremy Langford (ankle) are not going to play despite ridiculously being listed as doubtful. Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), Eddie Royal (calf), Zach Miller (ribs), and Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring) are among the 13 players listed as questionable. Royal is the most questionable after getting in just one limited practice this week, but all four should play.

49ers @ Bills
*Neither Jeremy Kerley (ankle) nor Vance McDonald (hip) were listed on the final report. Kerley should keep his high-volume role even with Colin Kaepernick running the show. LB Ahmad Brooks (groin), DT DeForest Buckner (foot), DT Glenn Dorsey (knee), and S Jaquiski Tartt (quad) are questionable while SCB Jimmie Ward (quad) is out.

*DT Marcell Dareus (hamstring) did not practice this week, but he is still listed as doubtful. Charles Clay (knee), LT Cordy Glenn (ankle), LB Zach Brown (foot), DT Corbin Bryant (ankle), T Cyrus Kouandjio (ankle), C Patrick Lewis (knee), P Colton Schmidt (quad), CB Corey White (shoulder), and S Aaron Williams (ankle) are listed as questionable. Clay, Glenn, and Brown should be good to go.

Browns @ Titans
*Cody Kessler will start a week after being forced from the game with an injury to his ribs. He practiced in full Thursday and Friday. Josh McCown (shoulder) returned to limited practice this week, but he is out. Corey Coleman (hand) is nearing his reported window for return, but he is still out this week. LG Joel Bitonio landed on injured reserve with a mid-foot sprain, but C Cameron Erving will make his return from a chest injury. Joe Haden (groin) and DE Xavier Cooper (shoulder) appear unlikely to play despite questionable tags, but Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) and SCB Tramon Williams (shoulder) should be good to go.

*The Titans are incredibly healthy with only DT Al Woods (calf) expected to sit due to injury.

Eagles @ Redskins
*Ryan Mathews missed Friday’s practice with an illness, but he was not listed on the final report. DT Fletcher Cox (ankle, questionable) should play after getting in a full practice Friday, but CB Leodis McKelvin (hamstring) only managed a limited session Friday. He will be a game-time decision.

*Jordan Reed (concussion) is listed as questionable, but he is very unlikely to play after sitting out all week. Considering his history with head injuries, he could be out a while. CB Bashaud Breeland (ankle), S Su'a Cravens (concussion), and CB Dashaun Phillips (hamstring) are also listed as questionable. Breeland is fully expected to play. Josh Doctson (Achilles’) remains out. Josh Norman will play with a cast on his “heavily sprained” right wrist.

Afternoon Games
Chiefs @ Raiders
*The Chiefs did not list anyone on the final report coming off their bye. Jamaal Charles practiced in full all week, but OC Brad Childress said the team is going to "sprinkle" him in "where we feel he's most effective." It is a great matchup, but he is no better than an RB2 on a questionable workload.

*Latavius Murray will sit again with a toe injury. DeAndre Washington played a plurality of the snaps with Murray sidelined last week, but Jalen Richard saw the same number of touches. Both are FLEX plays. Clive Walford (knee), S Nate Allen (quad), G Jon Feliciano (calf), RB Taiwan Jones (knee), T Matt McCants (knee), and LB Malcolm Smith (quad) are questionable. Walford surprisingly sat last week, so his status cannot be taken for granted. He will not be a streaming option even if he plays. RT Menelik Watson (calf) and G/T Vadal Alexander (ankle) are out.

Falcons @ Seahawks
*Neither Julio Jones (knee) nor Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) were listed on the final report. Paul Worrilow (groin) will sit again, but the Falcons will get back rookie LBs De'Vondre Campbell (ankle) and Deion Jones (ankle).

*Russell Wilson (ankle, knee), Jimmy Graham (knee), and Tyler Lockett (knee) practiced in full all week. SS Kam Chancellor (questionable) tweaked his groin Thursday and was not able to practice Friday. Expected to be a game-time decision, Chancellor would be a big loss for Seattle’s defense. DE Frank Clark (hamstring), RB C.J. Prosise (wrist), and DT Garrison Smith (oblique) are also listed as questionable, although Prosise is not expected to play. Thomas Rawls (fibula) and DE Quinton Jefferson (thumb) are out.

Cowboys @ Packers

*Coach Jason Garrett said he is “not so sure” Dez Bryant (knee, questionable) will play this week, and Cowboys.com’s Bryan Broaddus believes he will sit. Still, Bryant is expected to test out his knee in pre-game warmups and will certainly campaign to play. He is shaping up as a true game-time call for a 4:25 PM EST kick. That is a nightmare for fantasy owners who do not also have Brice Butler on the roster. Jason Witten (chest), LT Tyron Smith (back), Terrance Williams (shoulder), CB Morris Claiborne (ankle), Lance Dunbar (knee), and K Dan Bailey (back) are also listed as questionable. Dunbar is not going to play, but the other five should suit up. Tony Romo (back), CB Orlando Scandrick (hamstrings), and OT Chaz Green (foot) are out.

*Eddie Lacy (ankle, questionable) got in limited practices all week, but he is looking like a game-time call. With James Starks unlikely to play (knee, questionable), Lacy should give it a go. CB Damarious Randall (groin) is also questionable. Jared Cook (ankle) and CB Sam Shields (concussion) look likely to miss several more games. Randall Cobb returned to a full practice Friday.

Sunday Night
Colts @ Texans

*T.Y. Hilton (hip) is listed as questionable, but he is going to play. WR Quan Bray (shin), CB Darius Butler (hand), and CB Patrick Robinson (knee, hip) are also questionable, although Bray and Butler sat out all week while Robinson was sidelined until a limited practice on Friday. All three could join Donte Moncrief (shoulder), C Jonotthan Harrison (illness), and DT Zach Kerr (ankle) on the sidelines.

*Will Fuller (hamstring), CB Kareem Jackson (hamstring), and RT Derek Newton (ankle) are listed as questionable, but all three should play. As will TE Ryan Griffin, who passed quickly through the concussion protocol. His activity puts a dent in the streaming value of C.J. Fiedorowicz. RG Jeff Allen (concussion), TE Stephen Anderson (hamstring), S Quintin Demps (calf), RB Jonathan Grimes (ankle), and LB Brian Peters (quad) are out. The Texans’ offensive line was already a disaster with Allen healthy.

Monday Night
Jets @ Cardinals
*Darrelle Revis (hamstring) was able to get in a limited practice Friday, putting him on track for Monday night. He has not been good enough to affect Carson Palmer’s matchup. Quincy Enunwa (knee), Matt Forte (knee), and Brandon Marshall (foot) are all practicing in full.

*Carson Palmer has been cleared from his concussion and will start in a dream matchup against the Jets. LG Mike Iupati is expected to miss several weeks with an ankle injury.
