The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves to scenic New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the New Hampshire 301.   NASCAR expert Brian Brown took a look at past performances, season trends, and spoke to NASCAR contacts to provide you the most accurate fantasy preview of Sunday’s race.

When:  Sunday, July 17; 1:44 p.m./et.

Weather:  Sunny with high around 89; wind out of the W at 7 mph.  Chance of precipitation is ZERO.

The Track: New Hampshire MotorSpeedway

NHMS is a 1.058 mile flat-oval.  It has 12 degree banking on the corners with 2 degree banking on the straightaways.

Key to Race:  THAT ISONE BIG PAPERCLIP

NHMS is basically a big version ofMartinsville.  It is a mile long paperclip configuration with two long straightaways with tight corners at the ends.  Kyle Busch won the first race at NHMS last year and Matt Kenseth took the fall race at the track.  Drivers that place well at Phoenix, Martinsville, and Richmond tend to also run well in New Hampshire.  Based on Phoenix and Richmond’s results earlier this year look for Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, and Kurt Busch to be fast in the Granite State.

Qualifying Procedures:

40 cars will attempt to qualify for 40 spots.

Fantasy Cheat Sheet:

Top 5

No. 18 Kyle Busch:  Rowdy lead 96 laps on his way to a win at NHMS last July and he was terrific at Phoenix and Richmond earlier this year.  He is the Vegas favorite and our favorite to win on Sunday.

No. 20 Matt Kenseth:  Kenseth was fast at Phoenix and Richmond earlier this year and won the fall race at NHMS last year.  He is one of our favorite to win this weekend.

No. 4 Kevin Harvick:  Harvick, as always, dominated Phoenix earlier this year and NHMS is one of his top tracks.  He is another top pick.

No. 41 Kurt Busch:  Busch has three career wins at NHMS and he was fast at Richmond earlier this year.  He is a great option.

No. 2 Brad Keselowski:  Keselowski finished second at NHMS last July.  He is a smart play in all leagues this weekend.

6 to 10

No. 22 Joey Logano:  Logano won his first career Cup race at NHMS and he won the 2014 fall race.  He is a fantastic option this weekend.

No. 48 Jimmie Johnson:  Johnson has finished in the top 15 in all but five of his 28 career Cup starts at NHMS.   He is a great pick.

No. 11 Denny Hamlin:  Hamlin won the 2012 September race at NHMS and has finished in the top 10 in 12 of his last 20 Cup races at the track.  He is a good pick on Sunday.

No. 19 Carl Edwards:  Carl has had one of the better cars at NHMS the past few years and he was awesome at both Phoenix and Richmond earlier this year.  He is a fine choice.

No. 78 Martin Truex Jr.:  Truex has five top eight finishes in the last 18 races at NHMS.  The Furniture Row Racing ride should be fast again this weekend.

11 to 20

No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.:  Junior has finished in the top 10 in just 14 of the last 26 races at NHMS.  Even though he has spent quite a bit of time testing in New Hampshire the past few years there are better weekends to use him.

No. 24 Chase Elliott:  Elliott makes his first Cup start at NHMS.  He will flirt with the top 10 this weekend, but will likely finish just outside.

No. 31 Ryan Newman:  In 26 Cup starts at the Magic Mile Ryan Newman has 16 top 10 finishes, including three wins.  He is a solid pick in most fantasy leagues.

No. 5 Kasey Kahne:  Kahne won the July 2012 race and has been fast the past few visits to NHMS.  He is a good option this weekend.

No. 3 Austin Dillon:  Dillon has looked great at NHMS.  He is a very worthy fantasy choice.

No. 42 Kyle Larson:  Larson was awesome at NHMS in 2014, but struggled a bit last year.  He should be back inside the top 15 this weekend.

No. 43 Aric Almirola:  Almirola has been very fast at NHMS the past two years.  He will have the No. 43 car near the top 15 when the checkers fly.

No. 1 Jamie McMurray:  McMurray has mastered NHMS’s tricky configuration.  He is a good option.

No. 47 AJ Allmendinger:  Dinger has averaged a 17th place finish at NHMS the past seven years.

No. 14 Tony Stewart:  Stewart has one of the top driver ratings at NHMS the past 10 years.  He is a sneaky pick this weekend.
