I'm not surprised at all by the Kansas City Chiefs being the odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium. I am surprised by the price and how low the number dipped.
The PointsBet Sportsbook trading team saw enough in the Baltimore bludgeoning to not only drop the Ravens to the two line, but cut the Chiefs' price down to just +375. So a $100 dollar bet on Patrick Mahomes and Co. wins you $375 if they go all the way.
Luckily for us, we bet Kansas City at +575 before the NFL season started.
Right team, right price, right time.
I remember trying to explain my logic before we even knew if football was going to happen this year. Mahomes is the best player in the universe and I would argue he's the most talented player that's ever played quarterback. Odds are good that the Chiefs probably make it to the AFC Championship game and if that's the case they're probably the favorite.
Kansas City is going to be extremely tough to beat in the AFC because they can win every way and they can play from ahead or behind. Clearly, Baltimore struggles when they don't get off to a strong start. The Titans jumped on them early in last year's postseason and the Chiefs did the same thing Monday night.
So the reigning Super Bowl champs are +375 to repeat and that price probably won't get much juicier. I don't see many roadblocks in their season barring a serious injury to a key player. Games at Buffalo and Oakland will be interesting and surely KC could stub their toe, but I would be stunned if they're not the AFC's top seed in January.
After the Chiefs, it's the Ravens +600, Seahawks +1100, then the Saints at +1200. The Cardinals, Packers and 49ers are all +1600, the Cowboys and Steelers are +1800, the Rams, Patriots and Buccaneers check in at +2000, then it's the Bills and Titans at +2200.
