Finding the right teaser for Week 9

Last week's teaser came through on the Bears and Broncos, so obviously we need to fire another one this weekend. Those are the rules.

If you're new around here, a teaser is a bet that allows you to adjust the point spread six points whichever way you choose. You must select a minimum of two bets, but you have to win all the bets in the teaser to cash the ticket.

While some people like to maximize their payout and do four or five-team teasers, your chances of winning get increasingly more difficult with every extra team you add. I’ll stick with the standard two-teamer and tease through the most important numbers in football – 3 and 7.

This Seattle-Buffalo game has all the makings of a shootout. The total is currently sitting at 55, which implies that neither defense is safe. The Russell Wilson hype train certainly has an impact on the betting line and bettors love to bet the Seahawks at short numbers anyway. Sportsbooks everywhere will be rooting for Buffalo to win outright and I love being on the side of the house.

But Buffalo +3 definitely isn't enough for me. I need more points, so let's tease!

I'll kick up the Bills from +3 through 4, 6, 7 and 8 all the way to +9. This gives me plenty of wiggle room with Josh Allen, Brian Daboll and the Buffalo offense. Plus, we're pretty safe if the game goes to overtime. I would hate to bet the Bills +3 and lose by 6 in overtime. No thanks.

Our second game involves my favorite team to bet in 2020 – the Miami Dolphins. The Fins head west this week to take on the Cardinals. Arizona is currently a 4.5-point favorite at home and I've made my stance on that game pretty clear this week

Spying Kyler Murray will always be a challenge, but let's not forget that Tua Tagovailoa didn't show any of his cards last week. The Dolphins will likely open up the playbook on offense assuming they don't jump ahead 28-7 like they did against the Rams. I definitely expect to see more from Tua through the air and on the ground.

I'll gladly key the Dolphins into a teaser and make this spread a whole lot bigger. Let's move Miami from +4.5 through 6, 7, 8 and 10 up to +10.5. Defense is definitely their calling card and they've been very good against the pass. Spot me double digits and I'll run to the window.

Tease the Bills +9 to the Dolphins +10.5.
