NBA Betting Cheat Sheet for April 7

by Corey Parson
Updated On: April 7, 2021, 6:39 pm ET

The NBA is back tonight with an 8-game slate for us to wager on. Kevin Durant headlines tonight's action as he hits the court for the first time in months, meanwhile the night concludes with a big matchup between the top two Western Conference teams. Below, I'll run through each game and where I see value on the spread or the Total.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Indiana Pacers (-2) Total: 232

The Pacers struggles can be evident in the spread tonight against the Timberwolves. Indiana sits as two-point favorites as Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, and Myles Tuner are all questionable to suit up. There is no way I can back Indiana tonight given their current situation. However, the Total sits at 232 which seems a little too high.

Edge: Under 232

Washington Wizards vs. Orlando Magic (+3) Total: 222

A pair of Eastern Conference bottom feeders meet tonight in Orlando. The Wizards are on a four-game losing streak, while Orlando has back-to-back losses. In their last 10 games, the Magic are 7-3 ATS and are 2-0 SU against the Wizards this season. With Bradley Beal questionable tonight, look for the Magic to make it 3-0 against the Wizards.

Edge: Magic +3

New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics (-3) Total: 209.5

Boston is coming off a double-digit loss to the 76ers and get another chance to get in the winning column against New York tonight. Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, but it feels like they are going in complete opposite directions. The Celtics lost to the Knicks by 30 earlier this season, but were missing some key players. Boston's depth will be challenged tonight with Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier both out. I'll be backing the Knicks ATS and on the money line.

Edge: Knicks +3

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Brooklyn Nets (-9) Total: 233

Kevin Durant is expected to make his return to the Nets lineup tonight, but James Harden will be out with a hamstring injury. New Orleans is coming off a blowout loss to the Hawks and the same thing should happen tonight in Brooklyn. Brandon Ingram is questionable for the Pelicans, but his status doesn't sway my opinion on the game.

Edge: Nets -9

Dallas Mavericks vs. Houston Rockets (+10.5) Total: 222.5

Don't look now, but the Dallas Mavericks are starting to make their push. The Mavs are riding a five-game winning streak and have won seven out of their last 10 games. On the flipside, the Rockets are the worst team in the league right now. Sitting at 13-37, it would be shocking to see them make this remotely competitive. The Mavericks are 9-4 ATS as road favorites this season making this an easy call for me.

Edge: Mavericks -10.5

Charlotte Hornets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (+5.5) Total: 213.5

The Hornets are short road favorites tonight in Oklahoma City and will be without Gordon Hayward who is nursing a foot injury. Charlotte has played well of recently and has given themselves a legitimate chance to make the playoffs. However, this is a bad spot for them given it's their fifth road game in a row. The Thunder are on a three-game skid, but could catch the Hornets sleeping if they aren't too careful.

Edge Finder Tip: The Thunder are 14-10 to the over in games where they are home underdogs.

Edge: Thunder +5.5

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Atlanta Hawks (-3) Total: 225.5

The Grizzlies and Hawks meet tonight in what should be an excellent game. Memphis is riding a three-game winning streak, while Atlanta has racked up four wins in a row. Ja Morant is questionable for the Grizzlies tonight, but with him in, Memphis is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games.

Edge: Grizzlies +3

San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets (-9) Total: 222

The Nuggets are on a six-game winning streak, while the Spurs have lost four out of their last five. Given the Nuggets recent success, it wouldn't be shocking to see the Nuggets be the most publicly bet team tonight. The Spurs are 13-5-1 ATS on the road this season, which gives San Antonio some value on the nine-point spread. With Jamal Murray questionable for the Nuggets tonight, this is an excellent spot to fade the public. I would even sprinkle on the money line.

Edge: Spurs +9

Utah Jazz vs. Phoenix Suns (+1.5) Total: 227

The top two seeds in the Western Conference meet tonight in Phoenix. When the Suns and Jazz met back in December, the Suns got a double-digit win on the road. This game opened up with the Suns as a 2-point underdog, however the line has moved a half-point in favor of Phoenix. Both of these teams are evenly matched and it wouldn't be surprising if this contest headed to overtime. Instead of picking a side, I'm targeting the Over as both of these offenses should have no problems finding the bottom of the net.

Edge Finder Tip: The Suns are 3-0 to the over when they have been a home underdog this season.

Edge: Over 227
