Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints Week 1 odds

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski makes their Buccaneers debuts in the Big Easy against Drew Brees and the Saints, in a battle of lead-pipe-cinch Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Caesars sportsbooks opened the Saints -6.5 and quickly dropped to -5.5, while PointsBet USA had a much tighter point spread and had to make a speedy move on home favorite New Orleans, from -3.5 to -4.5.

“No team in the NFL has seen a greater offseason makeover than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but even the additions of Brady and Gronkowski can’t knock the Saints off their assumed pedestal. At least on paper,” PointsBet USA director of communications Patrick Eichner said. “That said, we would not be surprised if the public pushes this one closer to the key number of 3 as we approach Sept. 13.”

The SuperBook opened Saints -4 and went to -4.5, but is also bracing for Bucs money.

“We think there will be heavy support for Brady in his first game in Tampa,” SuperBook manager Eric Osterman said.

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams Week 1 odds

Bettors are always fascinated by the Cowboys, while the Rams – who missed the postseason last year after reaching the Super Bowl in 2018-19 – will want to open the new SoFi Stadium with a bang on Sunday Night Football in Week 1.

“We like the Cowboys, so we decided to go Cowboys -3 instead of -2.5,” Osterman said. “We also feel like the Cowboys money will come in heavy. The total is pretty high at 50. There should be plenty of scoring between these two offenses.”

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs Week 1 odds

This AFC clash is the NFL 2020 season opener, in the Thursday night slot on Sept. 10. Caesars books opened the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs -11 and very briefly ticked down to -10.5 before going back to -11.

“A major mismatch at both the skill positions and at head coach,” Caesars sportsbooks director of trading Jeff Davis said. “The Texans take a big downgrade, losing DeAndre Hopkins and retaining Bill O’Brien. Even without fans, this number seems likely to be north of double digits (at kickoff).”

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Giants Week 1 odds

This is the opening game of the NFL Week 1 Monday night doubleheader on September 14. PointsBet USA, which sees plenty of Giants action at its New Jersey operation, had the Steelers -3.5, with Ben Roethlisberger back from an elbow injury after missing the final 14 games of last season.

“The Steelers lost three in a row to end 2019 and missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season, but with 2020 comes the return of Big Ben under center,” Eichner said. “While the Giants are a young team that we expect to get better, we still seem them as 3.5-point dogs, given that Roethlisberger will be back on the field.”
