The first period could go a long way toward deciding the latest chapter in this Pacific Division rivalry – and if that's the case, the Oilers could be sitting pretty. Edmonton comes into the game having scored the fourth-most first-period goals per game at home (39), with a plus-8 goal differential in the frame.

Vegas has done many things well, but getting off to good road starts isn't one of them. The Golden Knights rank 26th in first-period road scoring and have a minus-8 differential. We like Edmonton to lead after 20 minutes.

PREDICTION: Edmonton -0.5 first-period line (+170)

It might be tough to nail down which ends up being the highest-scoring period in this one. While each team has actually had the highest-scoring frame in four consecutive games, there isn't one stanza that stands out in particular for either team.

While the third period is the most prolific period in Vegas games so far this season, the difference between Period 3 and the other two frames isn't significant enough to warrant a wager. We suggest rolling with the Tie play for this prop.

PREDICTION: Highest Scoring Period: Tie (+240)

Things get a little easier from here, with player point props expected to be popular in this matchup. And it's curious that Leon Draisaitl – who leads the league in scoring by a whopping 14 points over teammate Connor McDavid – is actually getting slightly better odds on recording an assist vs. the Golden Knights.

While McDavid's assist-per-game average (1.00) is better than that of his higher-scoring teammate (0.97), the difference is negligible – so we're taking the better payout and rolling with Leon.

PREDICTION: Leon Draisaitl Over 0.5 assists (-140)

Recent Golden Knights-Oilers tilts have been surprisingly tame when you consider how prolific these teams are on the offensive end. They've combined for six or fewer goals in four of their previous five meetings, with three of those games producing four or fewer tallies.

You run the risk of a push with the total at a solid 6, so it's just a matter of where you think the total will wind up, and taking a half-point either way. We like the offenses winning the day here, so we're taking the O5.5.

PREDICTION: Over 5.5 (-150)

If you're looking for reasons to bet against Vegas claiming the regular-season division title, you don't have to go far. The Golden Knights are a pedestrian 16-13-4 away from T-Mobile Arena this season, making them the only current division leader with more losses than victories on the road.

While Edmonton hasn't exactly been a home juggernaut, with precious little separating these teams just about everywhere else, home-ice edge looms large and it's enough to steer us toward the Oilers.

PREDICTION: Edmonton Moneyline
