John Means O/U 5.5 Strikeouts vs. Rangers
John Means has been the most consistent pitcher for the Orioles in the early season. Today, he faces the Texas Rangers, who have the most strikeouts in the league (157).
The Orioles are right behind at 155 strikeouts for the second-most, so we could see a pitchers duel between Means and Kyle Gibson. The Rangers are 19th in batting average (.226), 22nd in runs (58), 25th in walks (40), 27th in OPS (.656) and 28th in SLG (.357).
NBC's model projects Means to record 5.7 strikeouts, right on line with 5.5 strikeout prop today. He is also projected to go 6.1 innings, something he did in his first start going 7.0, but not in his last two.

Means is one-of-17 pitchers projected to go at least six innings. He has gone 7.0 4.2 and 5.0 innings deep in three games, hitting 97, 83 and 88 pitches. He has yet to be responsible for a loss and posted two no-decisions in the previous two starts.
Five of the Rangers' hitters, who qualified out of 12, are ranked below average or poor in whiff rate percentage. Adding to that, 10 of the 12 have a first swing percentage over 50%, which is always favorable for strikeouts.
The Rangers are down 0-2 in the series to the Orioles and Baltimore pitchers have found success limiting Texas to three runs.
Both of the Orioles starting pitchers have gone Over 5.5 strikeouts with six and eight versus the Rangers. They also went 4.2 and 5.0 innings, still going Over the strikeout prop. Means can go beyond 5.0 innings and he did that in his last outing and threw 88 pitches, striking out five.
Baltimore was down 0-1 in the sixth inning before putting up five runs over the final three frames to win 6-1 last night. The entire series has been low scoring with a 5-2 finish in the first meeting as well. That should be the theme with the No. 1 and No. 2 most sat down (strikeouts) teams in the league.
Back the Orioles' Means to record a season-high six strikeouts or more in his most favorable matchup yet.
Pick: John Means Over 5.5 Strikeouts (1u)
