Power Play Report

Economical Minutes

by Ryan Dadoun
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

Last week we looked at players who had been given a good amount of power-play ice time, but had little to nothing to show for it from a points perspective.  However, there are of course players at the opposite end of the spectrum, who have been rather economical with their minutes.

If we only look at players that have received under 150 power-play minutes this season, Ducks players lead the charge with Hampus Lindholm and Ryan Kesler finishing first and second respectively under those parameters with 15 and 14 points.  Boone Jenner, Nick Foligno, Paul Stastny, and Nick Bjugstad are all tied for third place with 13 points

Among that list, Stastny has the fewest power-play minutes at 129:36.  If we restrict the list further to look at only players that have received less than 100 minutes with the man advantage, then we'd find four players at the top.  Brad Marchand, Joonas Donskoi, Robby Fabbri, and Christian Ehrhoff led that group with eight points each.  Among them, Ehrhoff has been the most efficient as he's recorded his eight points in just 73:43 minutes of ice time.
