Washington Capitalizing on PP

There are still two teams without a power play goal, the Anaheim Ducks and the New York Islanders.


Nicklas Backstrom leads the NHL in points with the man-advantage at six while Filip Forsberg, Will Butcher, Jakub Voracek and Shayne Gostisbehere are one behind.


Mika Zibanejad and Forsberg lead in goals with four.

The Ducks were 0-15 this week and have yet to score in 21 opportunities. They are missing Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Eaves, Ryan Kesler, Sami Vatanen and Hampus Lindholm. That hurts the pp.

Derek Stepan: 0 points in 19:01.

Max Domi: 1 point in 19:01.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson: 1 point in 18:36.

Christian Dvorak: 1 point in 13:13.

Jason Demers: 0 points in 11:34.


The Coyotes were 2-12 this week and are 4-19 this season. Ekman-Larsson and Keller scored with Stepan picking up a couple of assists. Demers and Domi also had assists.



David Pastrnak: 1 point in 19:38 minutes of power play time.

Ryan Spooner: 0 points in 18:33.

Brad Marchand:  0 points in 18:13.

Torey Krug: 1 point in 15:22.

David Krejci: 1 point in 14:21.

Riley Nash: 0 points in 13:16.


The Bruins were 3-14 this week and are 4-19 in 2017-18. Jake DeBrusk led the way with a goal and an assist while Anders Bjork and Krug also scored.  Charlie McAvoy, Krejci, Marchand, Nash and Danton Heinen chipped in with one assist apiece.

Rasmus Ristolainen: 1 point in 25:08.

Ryan O'Reilly: 0 points in 24:52.

The Sabres were 1-13 this week and are 2-22 this season. Kane scored with Jason Pominville scored the goal with Ristolainen drawing the only helper.

Chicago was 3-19 this week and are 4-27 this season. Toews, Artem Anisimov and Richard Panik scored with Gustav Forsling picking up two assists. Alex DeBrincat, Ryan Hartman, Cody Franson and Jan Rutta also picked up an assist.



Tyson Barrie: 2 points in 30:56 minutes of power play time.

Mikko Rantanen: 3 points in 30:30.

Sven Andrighetto: 3 points in 29:57.

Gabriel Landeskog: 2 points in 29:32.

Nathan MacKinnon: 2 points in 23:30.

Matt Duchene: 0 points in 21:33.


The Avs were 3-18 this week and are 4-29 on the season. Andrighetto had a goal and two assists while Landeskog had one of each. Barrie also scored with Rantanen getting two helpers. MacKinnon had one assist to close the scoring.



Alexander Wennberg: 1 point in 15:25 minutes of power play time.

Artemi Panarin: 1 point in 15:25.

Cam Atkinson: 0 points in 15:23.

Zach Werenski: 1 point in 13:28.

Nick Foligno: 0 points in 13:23.

Seth Jones:  0 points in 10:38.


The Blue Jackets were 0-9 this week and are 1-13 in 2017-18.

John Klingberg: 4 points in 17:29.

The Stars were 3-10 this week and are 5-18 this season.  Seguin scored twice with Benn also finding the back of the net as well as picking up an assist. Klingberg had two assists with Shore and Spezza picking up one apiece.

Tomas Tatar: 0 points in 12:53.

Justin Abdelkader: 1 point in 12:38.

Detroit was 2-9 this week and are 4-18 this season. Martin Frk and Abdelkader scored. Mike Green had two assists to give him points on all four power play goals. Zetterberg also had an assist.

The Panthers were 2-10 this week and are 3-18 on the season. Huberdeau and Jared McCann scored with Yandle, Radim Vrbata, Dadonov and Ekblad drawing the assists.

Anze Kopitar: 1 point in 20:55.

Jeff Carter: 1 point in 20:22.

Dustin Brown: 1 point in 19:13.

The Kings were 4-11 this week and are 4-22 this season.  Doughty, Toffoli and Muzzin each had a goal and an assist while Brown also scored. Oscar Fantenberg had two assists with Alec Martinez and Carter getting one.



Ryan Suter: 2 points in 14:30 minutes of power play time.

Mikko Koivu: 1 point in 12:55.

Jared Spurgeon: 1 point in 10:02.

Jason Zucker: 2 points in 9:55.

Nino Niederreiter: 0 points in 9:21.

The Wild were 3-9 this week and are 4-14 this season. Tyler Ennis scored twice with Zucker scoring once. Suter had two assists with Mike Reilly, Matt Cullen, Koivu and Spurgeon getting one each.

Shea Weber: 0 points in 19:26.

Jonathan Drouin: 0 points in 19:21.

Alex Galchenyuk: 1 point in 16:35.

The Canadiens were 1-7 this week and are now 1-16 this season. Galchenyuk scored with Charles Hudon picking up the only assist.

Ryan Johansen: 2 points in 20:27.

Filip Forsberg: 5 points in 20:20.

Scott Hartnell: 3 points in 18:00.

Viktor Arvidsson: 1 point in 16:11.

The Predators were 5-12 this week and are 7-24 in 2017-18. Forsberg had three goals and an assist with Hartnell had one of each. Craig Smith had a goal with Subban picking up three assists. Kevin Fiala had two assists with Johansen, Mattias Ekholm and Samuel Girard getting one each.



Will Butcher: 5 points in 20:24 minutes of power play time.

Taylor Hall: 2 points in 19:08.

Damon Severson: 0 points in 18:55.

Nico Hischier: 1 point in 18:36.  

Jimmy Hayes: 1 point in 16:55.

Jesper Bratt: 2 points in 16:48.


The Devils were 3-18 this week and are 6-22 this season. Drew Stafford, Pavel Zacha and Hall scored with Butcher getting two assists. Marcus Johansson, Bratt, Kyle Palmieri and Hischier also had assists.    



John Tavares: 0 points in 22:02 minutes of power play time..

Anders Lee: 0 points in 21:54.

Nick Leddy: 0 points in 21:52.

Jordan Eberle: 0 points in 21:47.

Josh Bailey: 0 points in 19:30.

Mathew Barzal: 0 points in 17:19.


The Islanders were 0-16 this week and are 0-20 this season.

Mats Zuccarello: 3 points in 28:21.

Mika Zibanejad: 4 points in 28:05.

Pavel Buchnevich: 2 points in 27:17.

The Rangers were 1-11 this week and are 5-23 this season. Zibanejad scored the only goal for New York and he now has all four power play goals. Buchnevich and Shattenkirk each had one assist.

Mike Hoffman: 2 points in 23:57.

The Senators were 5-16 this week and are 5-28 this season.  Wideman had two goals, Turris had a goal and two assists and Hoffman picking a goal and an assist. Brassard also scored with Zack Smith grabbing a pair of helpers. Thomas Chabot, Stone and Cody Ceci also had assists.



Shayne Gostisbehere: 3 points in 20:25 minutes of power play time.

Jakub Voracek: 3 points in 19:59.

Claude Giroux:  1 point in 19:35.

Wayne Simmonds: 2 points in 19:27.

Valtteri Filppula: 2 points in 18:54.

Sean Couturier: 0 points in 10:55.


The Flyers were 3-7 on the power play this week and are currently 6-22 this year.   Filppula had a pair of goals and Simmonds had one. Voracek had three assists with Gostisbehere picking up a couple and Giroux one.

Phil Kessel: 1 point in 26:10.

Evgeni Malkin: 2 points in 26:07.

Kris Letang: 2 points in 24:06.

Jake Guentzel: 3 points in 21:02.

The Penguins were 5-14 this week and are 7-26 this season. Crosby, Letang, Bryan Rust, Conor Sheary and Patric Hornqvist scored and had an assist with Olli Maatta assisting on two goals. Tom Kuhnhackl and Schultz also had an assist.



Vladimir Tarasenko: 3 points in 28:18 minutes of power play time.

Alex Pietrangelo: 3 points in 27:51.

Paul Stastny: 2 points in 27:28.

Jaden Schwartz: 1 point in 26:32.

Brayden Schenn: 2 points in 25:290.

Colton Parayko: 1 point in 11:09.


The Blues were 3-18 this week and are currently 5-24 this season. Schenn, Stastny and Tarasenko scored with Pietrangelo picking up two assists. Tarasenko and Stastny also had assists, as did Schwartz.

Joe Thornton: 1 point in 13:13.

Joe Pavelski: 0 points in 12:22.

Mikkel Boedker: 2 points in 12:07.

Logan Couture: 1 point in 12:03.

The Sharks were 2-4 this week and are 4-14 this season. Hertl and Kevin Labanc found the back of the net with Boedker assisting on both goals. Lebanc and Marc-Edouard Vlasic also had assists.

The Lightning were 4-12 this week and are 6-21 in 2017-18. Stamkos and Brayden Point each had a goal and an assist while Hedman and Tyler Johnson scored once. Kucherov had two assists with Killorn, Mikhail Sergachev and Namestnikov each assisting once.

Auston Matthews: 2 points in 19:00.

Mitch Marner: 2 points in 18:56.

Tyler Bozak: 2 points in 18:18.

James van Riemsdyk: 4 points in 18:14.

The Maple Leafs were 3-16 this week and have scored 8 goals in 26 chances.  Van Riemsdyk had a pair of goals with Mathews picking up one.  Morgan Rielly had two assists with Marner, Bozak, Marleau and William Nylander picking up one apiece



Daniel Sedin:  1 point in 21:17 minutes of power play time.

Henrik Sedin: 0 points in 20:37.

Thomas Vanek: 1 point in 19:48.

Sam Gagner: 0 points in 16:27.

Sven Baertschi: 0 points in 14:47.

Ben Hutton: 1 point in 14:41.


The Canucks were 1-17 this week and are 2-23 this season. Daniel Sedin scored with Vanek and Brock Boeser getting the assists.

Reilly Smith: 1 point in 17:49.

James Neal: 1 point in 17:10.


The Golden Knights were 1-10 this week and are 1-21 in their first year. Neal scored the first power play goal in the history of the Golden Knights with Smith and Erik Haula drawing the assists.

John Carlson: 2 points in 23:34.

Evgeny Kuznetsov: 3 points in 23:06

Nicklas Backstrom: 6 points in 22:38.

T.J. Oshie: 4 points in 22:11.

Brett Connolly: 0 points in 8:20.


The Capitals went 5-15 this week and are 6-20 this season. The first power play of the Caps have done all the damage as they have combined for 18 points with 15 coming this past week. Oshie leads with three goals while Ovechkin has a pair.

Patrik Laine: 0 points in 18:43.

Blake Wheeler: 2 points in 18:34.

Mathieu Perreault: 1 point in 17:56

Bryan Little: 0 points in 14:56.

Dustin Byfuglien: 0 points in 14:54.



The Jets were 1-8 this week and 2-19 this season. Ehlers scored an unassisted goal.
