With only five more weeks of the NFL regular season, it's time to really start paying attention to teams playing for something. We have some really great games this week, and with bye weeks officially over, we have a massive 13-game main slate this weekend. Make sure to check weather and injuries before lineup lock on Sunday. Let's get into some of my favorite plays for FanDuel and DraftKings.
Cash Game Targets
Patrick Mahomes @ Oakland Raiders
Patrick Mahomes is the safest quarterback play each and every week and, add in a matchup against one of the worst defenses in the league, he becomes the highest projected quarterback. Mahomes has scored at least 17 fantasy points in every game this season, and at least 25 fantasy points in eight of 11 games. Oakland ranks 30th in DVOA against the pass, and they've allowed multiple passing touchdowns in nine of 11 games this season. You're paying up for the safety of Mahomes in this matchup.
Cam Newton @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cam Newton was able to extend his streak last weekend against Seattle, and he's now thrown multiple passing touchdowns in ten straight games. Tampa has allowed at least one passing touchdown in every game this season, and multiple passing touchdowns in eight of 11 games. They rank 32nd in DVOA against the pass and they're allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. I really like the Cam/McCaffrey combo this weekend, and I think it gives you a really high floor for cash games.
Editor's Note: If you love Fantasy Football you have to be playing on DRAFT. It's daily fantasy football snake drafts instead of salary caps. All the fun of season long drafts but with no management and they last for just one week. They take minutes to complete and there's even auction drafts! No more setting lineups or constantly worrying about pros, just draft and win! Right now DRAFT is giving Rotoworld readers an exclusive FREE entry into a real money draft when you make your first deposit! Here's the link
Jared Goff @ Detroit Lions
As you can already tell, I will be paying up for quarterbacks on a good portion of my lineups this weekend. I actually think Jared Goff could be the highest scoring quarterback this weekend. Like Mahomes, Goff has three 30+ fantasy point games this season, and two of them have come in the last three games. I think this game is a sneaky shootout game, and I don't think it will be as popular as some of the other high total games on this slate. The Lions have allowed at least one passing touchdown in every game, and multiple passing touchdown in nine of 11 games.
Case Keenum @ Cincinnati Bengals
If you're looking to save some money, Keenum draws an excellent matchup against this beat down Bengals Defense. The Bengals are allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and they rank 26th in DVOA against the pass. Phillip Lindsay is one of my favorite plays on the slate, and I wouldn't be shocked if he scores on a pass from Keenum. Keenum has been up and down all season, but he's still averaging 254 passing yards per game. I still think quarterback is a good spend-up position, but Keenum is one of the few in this price range that I like.
Cash Game Targets
Christian McCaffrey @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Christian McCaffrey has scored at least 30 fantasy points in three of the last four games. After taking a while to find the end zone, he's scored at least one touchdown in four of the last five games and three of those were multiple touchdown games. McCaffrey has an 87% opportunity share, which is second-highest among running backs. He's also averaging 3.8 red zone touches per game, which is the third-most in the NFL. Tampa is 27th in DVOA against the run, and they're allowing 48.3 receiving yards per game to opposing running backs.
Phillip Lindsay @ Cincinnati Bengals
Lindsay is one of my favorite plays on the entire slate, and not only will I play him in cash games, I'm going to be way overweight on him in tournaments as well. Lindsay has at least 84 total yards in five straight games, and he's scored at least one touchdown in four of those games. The Bengals are allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season. They've allowed over 100-yards rushing in six of the last seven games and they've allowed at least one rushing touchdown in six straight games.
Saquon Barkley vs. Chicago Bears
Barkley has a really tough matchup this weekend against the Bears, which should really lower his ownership. He's fifth in opportunity share, fourth in rushing yards, second in receiving yards, and leads all running backs in receptions. Chicago ranks number one in DVOA against the pass, and 10th in DVOA against pass catching running backs. Barkley's price came down this week. He's worth the look in large field tournaments based on his high volume and talent alone.
Aaron Jones vs. Arizona Cardinals
Arizona has really struggled against the run this season. They rank 21st in DVOA against the run, and they're allowing the third most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. They've allowed over 100-yards rushing in eight of 11 games this season, and at least one rushing touchdown in eight games this season. Jones has double-digit carries in five straight games, and he's scored at least one rushing touchdown in four of those five games. Jones has also played at least 40 snaps in four straight games and looks to have taken over the lead back role in this offense.
