Podcast: Rookie Stock Watch

by Matt Stroup

Deandre Ayton just went through the roughest stretch of his rookie year -- including the revelation that he apparently doesn't eat after practice sometimes (what?) -- but he has emerged from that slump in impressive fashion, averaging 16.0 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 3.0 apg and 2.0 bpg his last three games. Is he the top rookie to own in fantasy going forward? (Hint: yes.)

But what about Jaren Jackson Jr.? Well, believe it or not, he is suddenly getting some important minutes siphoned away by... Joakim Noah?!?!

And what about Luka Doncic? Wonder Boy is well on his way to being a real-life star, but in fantasy he's No. 86 overall in 9-category leagues. This week on the Rotoworld Fantasy Basketball Podcast, Tommy Beer and I float the idea of potentially trading Doncic, and capitalizing on his name recognition to try to snag someone closer to the top 50.

Also, we take a look at some recent hot streaks, including a serious stat binge from Justise Winslow (23.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.3 spg and 3.7 3s his last three games).

And... we review the Roundball Stew Top 50 I posted last week, trying to decipher the values of Chris Paul and Victor Oladipo, and asking the question: Is Justin Holiday (currently 33rd in 9-category leagues) ranked too high on my list at No. 47? (Again, a hint: yes.)
