Players are also listed at the positions where they’re most valuable, so if you don’t see that third baseman you’re looking for, he’s probably listed at second or short.

Dropping off: Ian Stewart (39th)
- Whether or not to drop Wright was the biggest question here. His malaise predates the shoulder injury he sustained on June 12, but then, he was actually hitting much better of late before sitting out the last three games. Plus, while Wright’s stock has definitely dropped some -- something that is reflected in the top 300 -- there’s no one I thought was worthy of overtaking him here. Donaldson has been in a terrible slump. Longoria is playing better, but his supporting cast has been awful and could get even worse after some trades. I like Frazier a lot more as the No. 2 hitter in the Reds lineup, but who knows how long that will last? I still don’t really trust him to hit for average anyway.
- I left Headley at No. 15 based on the assumption that he’ll be traded in the coming weeks. As long as he remains with the Padres, he deserves to be probably five spots lower.
- The last spot was going to either Davidson or Garin Cecchini, who still might get a look at third base for Boston depending on how things shake out. I went with Davidson because he’s finally pulling out of his early funk, hitting .238 with seven homers for Triple-A Charlotte in June. His OPSs by month are .540, .643 and .843.
