Week 16 Live Blog

by Ryan McDowell

We've finally made it! Week Sixteen brings with it title games around the fantasy football world! While the high of battling for a league title is exciting, multiple tricky injury situations have made for a stressful Sunday morning. As of now, it appears that Rams RB Todd Gurley, Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins and Falcons WR Julio Jones will all play despite their injuries. How much they play and how effective they are will ultimately decide league titles today. Good luck!

(6:06PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Bears have regained the lead after RB Jordan Howard concluded a successful drive with a two-yard score. Howard has 38 rushing yards on eight carries.

(5:51PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Steelers have their first touchdown of the game and have tied the Saints just before halftime. QB Ben Roethlisberger hit a wide open RB Jaylen Samuels for a three-yard touchdown. Big Ben then found WR Eli Rogers to convert the two-pointer to tie the game.

(5:49PM) INJURY: The 49ers have ruled out RB Matt Breida (ankle) and WR Dante Pettis (knee) for the remainder of the game.

(5:24PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Bears are on the board and in the lead after QB Mitch Trubisky connected with rookie WR Anthony Miller for a four-yard touchdown. That's Miller's first catch since Week Thirteen.

(5:19PM) TOUCHDOWN: Another touchdown for the Saints gives them a 14-6 lead early in the second quarter. RB Alvin Kamara ran eight yards up the middle, bouncing off defenders along the way.

(5:10PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Rams are in the end zone again with veteran RB CJ Anderson scoring on a four-yard run up the middle. There was much debate about how the carries would break down with RB Todd Gurley out for this game. Anderson has 13 rush attempts for 84 yards as the game nears halftime.

(5:03PM) Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster was iffy to play today but ultimately declared himself ready to go, noting today was a big day for his fantasy owners. He's starting well, catching all five targets for 36 yards in the first quarter.

(5:00PM) TOUCHDOWN: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald just threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to RB David Johnson, cutting the Rams lead to 14-9.

(4:54PM) TOUCHDOWN: After a questionable pass interference call against the Steelers, RB Mark Ingram walked into the end zone for a Saints touchdown. They lead Pittsburgh 7-3.

(4:52PM) INJURY: The 49ers have already lost RB Matt Breida in this game and now rookie WR Dante Pettis needed to be helped from the field after a nasty looking leg injury. We might not see him again today.

(4:51PM) All early games are now complete so let's look at the final scores...

Falcons 24, Panthers 10

Browns 26, Bengals 18

Cowboys 27, Buccaneers 20

Vikings 27, Lions 9

Colts 28, Giants 27

Jaguars 17, Dolphins 7

Patriots 24, Bills 12

Packers 44, Jets 38

Eagles 32, Texans 30

(4:49PM) TOUCHDOWN: It took overtime but the Packers comeback win is complete as QB Aaron Rodgers hit a streaking WR Davante Adams for a 16-yard touchdown pass to end the game. Rodgers ends with 442 passing yards and two touchdowns, along with a pair of rushing touchdowns in his best statistical game of the year.

(4:48PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Rams are running all over the Cardinals with RBs CJ Anderson and Justin Davis but it was QB Jared Goff who ended the drive with a one-yard score.

(4:43PM) INJURY: This probably won't come as a surprise but 49ers RB Matt Breida is down with an injury. RB Jeff Wilson is the next man up.

(4:31PM) INJURY: Bears WR Allen Robinson has one big catch for 43 yards already today but now he's in the locker room with an undisclosed injury.

(4:28PM) TOUCHDOWN: The late games are underway. It is still not clear which running back will take the majority of the snaps in place of the injured RB Todd Gurley but the first rushing score of the game goes to WR Robert Woods, who scored from four yards out.

(4:20PM) TOUCHDOWN: WIth just over a minute remaining, QB Aaron Rodgers leaped over the line for his second rushing touchdown of the day, this one giving Green Bay a lead for the first time. Rodgers ran it in for a two-pointer after a beautiful fake handoff.

(4:03PM) TOUCHDOWN: Just a few minutes ago, the Eagles looked to have had the win wrapped up against the Texans. After the earlier Deshaun Watson to D'Onta Foreman touchdown, Houston put together another quick scoring drive and Watson hit rookie WR Vyncint Smith for a 35-yard touchdown to take the lead with just over two minutes remaining. Time for some Nick Foles magic!

(4:01PM) TOUCHDOWN: It will be too little too late, but the Bills just scored on a 31-yard pass from QB Josh Allen to WR Zay Jones. The Patriots lead 24-12 with just over a minute remaining.

(3:59PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Colts trailed all day long with about a minute left in the game, QB Andrew Luck passed to WR Chester Rogers for a short pass and a touchdown to take the lead. Giants QB Eli Manning then threw an interception to seal the comeback win for the Colts.

(3:56PM) TOUCHDOWN: Bucs QB Jameis Winston hit WR Mike Evans for a seven-yard score but Tampa couldn't recover the ensuing onside kick, all but ending the game and giving Dallas a win. Evans will finish with a 6/90/1 line for the day.

(3:54PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Packers have cut the Jets lead down to five after QB Aaron Rodgers ran in a one-yard score. There's still plenty of time in this one.

(3:50PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Texans moved quickly to get another score and give themselves a chance. QB Deshaun Watson connected with RB D'Onta Foreman, active for the first time all season, for a 20-yard score. Watson has 274 passing yards and a touchdown, along with a team-high 37 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.

(3:45PM) INJURY: No surprise after he was carted off, but Texans WR Demaryius Thomas was ruled out with an Achilles injury, potentially the same injury that ended the season for his former teammate, WR Emmanuel Sanders

(3:39PM) INJURY: Falcons RB Tevin Coleman is questionable to return with a groin injury. With a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, we may have seen the last of Coleman in this game. He has 54 rushing yards in the game.

(3:38PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Bengals are hanging around against the Browns after QB Jeff Driskel found WR John Ross in the end zone. Driskel then hit WR Cody Core for the two-point conversion to make the score 26-18 with under three minutes remaining.

(3:33PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Eagles have opened up a double-digit lead on the Texans as TE Zach Ertz weaved his way into the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown. Ertz is having a monster game, catching 11 passes for 90 yards and two scores.

(3:32PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Bengals have finally found the end zone as TE CJ Uzomah caught a 14-yard scoring pass from QB Jeff Driskel. The Browns still lead 26-10.

(3:25PM) TOUCHDOWN: This is turning into a career-day for Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph. He already had just his third 100-yard games of his career and now he has his second touchdown of the day, catching a four-yard score from QB Kirk Cousins. Rudolph has an 8/121/2 line for the game.

(3:22PM) INJURY: Texans veteran WR Demaryius Thomas suffered a lower-body injury and the car is coming out to assist him from the field.

(3:19PM) Earlier in the game, the Jaguars turned to former starting QB Blake Bortles due to an injury to QB Cody Kessler. Now, they've made the move due to Kessler's poor play. The Jags and Dolphins are tied at seven early in the fourth quarter.

(3:17PM) TOUCHDOWN: Another touchdown by the Cowboys has now more than doubled up the Buccaneers. QB Dak Prescott hit rookie WR Michael Gallup in the back corner of the end zone for a four-yard score.

(3:16PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Colts have cut the Giants lead down to three points after RB Marlon Mack finished off a drive with a three-yard run. The Giants lead 24-21 late in the third quarter.

(3:14PM) TOUCHDOWN: Eagles QB Nick Foles dropped a deep ball into the hands of WR Nelson Agholor and he did the rest. Agholor outran the defense and took it 83 yards for the touchdown, giving Philly a seven-point lead.

(3:12PM) TOUCHDOWN: Jets RB Elijah McGuire is in the end zone for the second time today, catching a short pass from QB Sam Darnold and taking it 20 yards to open a two-touchdown lead over the Packers.

(3:09PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Falcons are looking to officially end the Panthers slim playoff hopes and they are on their way to doing that, now leading 24-10 after QB Matt Ryan hit WR Mohamed Sanu for a 44-yard touchdown.

(3:04PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Patriots are in the end zone again but this was a weird one. The Bills tackled WR Julian Edelman a few yards short of the end zone, only they didn't. Edelman landed on top of a Bills defender before getting up and finishing his run to the end zone, good for a 32-yard touchdown.

(3:03PM) TOUCHDOWN: The improbable lead for the Giants has just grown as QB Eli Manning fell over the goal line for a one-yard score, giving New York a 24-14 lead over the Colts.

(2:54PM) The Eagles just had a big gainer as QB Nick Foles found WR Alshon Jeffery for a 52-yard reception. That's only the second catch of the day for Alshon.

(2:49PM) TOUCHDOWN: Browns QB Baker Mayfield hit WR Rashard Higgins, who dove the pylon and scored from 17 yards out. The Browns lead 23-0 over the Bengals.

(2:47PM) INJURY: Colts TE Eric Ebron has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

(2:46PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Falcons began the second half the right way as QB Matt Ryan hit WR Calvin Ridley for a 75-yard touchdown to break the tie and give the Falcons a lead.

(2:44PM) We're through halftime of most games in the early slate. Here are the top fantasy scorers for the day so far...

QB- Deshaun Watson, Kirk Cousins, Nick Foles

RB- Christian McCaffrey, Jamaal Williams, Darren Sproles

WR- Robby Anderson, Sterling Shepard, Calvin Ridley

TE- Zach Ertz, Kyle Rudolph, Ian Thomas

(2:42PM) Eagles TE Zach Ertz just broke the single-season record for receptions by a tight end with his 111th reception of the season, breaking the record previously held by former Cowboys TE Jason Witten. On the same play, Ertz fumbled the ball and it was recovered by TE Dallas Goedert

(2:38PM) INJURY: Some major news for the upcoming games...Rams RB Todd Gurley is OUT and will not play today against the Cardinals due to a knee injury.

(2:32PM) TOUCHDOWN: With no time left on the clock, QB Kirk Cousins threw a 44-yard Hail Mary brought down by TE Kyle Rudolph for the go-ahead score for Minnesota.

(2:28PM) TOUCHDOWN: A penalty after a hard hit to WR Adam Humphries pushed the Buccaneers close to the end zone and RB Jacquizz Rodgers scored from two yards out to make the score 17-13 with halftime closing in.

(2:23PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Vikings are finally on the board after the Lions have dominated time of possession in the first half. QB Kirk Cousins hit WR Stefon Diggs for an eight-yard score. The Lions lead 9-7 as halftime approaches.

(2:20PM) INJURY: Colts TE Eric Ebron took a hard shot and is now in the blue medical tent to be evaluated, presumably for a concussion.

(2:18PM) INJURY: Panthers QB Taylor Heinicke has waited his entire life for this day. He's back on the field with a brace on his elbow.

(2:17PM) TOUCHDOWN: Houston QB Deshaun Watson has his second rushing touchdown of the day coming on a six-yard scramble. The Texans lead the back and forth affair 16-13 over the Eagles.

(2:16PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Packers have cut the Jets lead to just seven points after a strong effort from RB Jamaal Williams on a seven-yard run, diving for the end zone.

(2:07PM) INJURY: Jaguars QB Cody Kessler grabbed at his arm after a recent pass attempt and now QB Blake Bortles is in the game.

(2:03PM) TOUCHDOWN: Eagles TE Zach Ertz is having a huge first half, catching six passes for 35 yards, the latest resulting in a fourth-down touchdown to regain the lead over Houston. Ertz is also closing in on the single-season record for receptions by a tight end.

(2:01PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Patriots have extended their lead on a 27-yard touchdown run from RB James White. New England has leaned heavily on their running game, limiting the pass attempts for QB Tom Brady.

(2:00PM) INJURY: Panthers QB Taylor Heinicke was playing well early but has suffered a knee injury and is being checked in the locker room. Undrafted free agent QB Kyle Allen is now in the game for the Panthers.

(1:58PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Colts also cut the Giants lead in half on a one-yard run by rookie RB Nyheim Hines, who also has two catches for 15 yards in the game.

(1:57PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Packers have cut the Jets lead in half on a 49-yard touchdown pass from QB Aaron Rodgers to WR Jake Kumerow, his first catch of the day.

(1:56PM) TOUCHDOWN: A 63-yard pass from WR Jarvis Landry got the Browns in the red zone and then QB Baker Mayfield found TE Darren Fells for a one-yard score.

(1:54PM) Eagles veteran RB Darren Sproles continues to make big plays, hauling in a 31-yard wheel route. Sproles already has 78 total yards and a touchdown in this game.

(1:48PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Jets now have a 14-0 lead over the Packers after QB Sam Darnold connected with WR Robby Anderson for a 33-yard score. We could see Packers QB Aaron Rodgers benched at some point in this game.

(1:46PM) TOUCHDOWN: A turnover from Eagles QB Nick Foles near the goal line led to an easy score for the Texans as QB Deshaun Watson jogged into the end zone for a five-yard score, giving Houston a 9-7 lead.

(1:44PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Browns have taken a lead over in-state rival Cincinnati after QB Baker Mayfield hit TE David Njoku, who extended for a three-yard score.

(1:36PM) Browns rookie RB Nick Chubb is off to a solid start, gaining 37 yards on five carries against the Bengals, though the first quarter has ended in a scoreless tie.

(1:31PM) TOUCHDOWN: And the Giants were able to capitalize as QB Eli Manning hit TE Scott Simonson for a three-yard score to take a surprising 14-0 lead over the Colts in Indianapolis.

(1:30PM) Giants WR Sterling Shepard has been a disappointment over the past couple of weeks, even without WR Odell Beckham. In this game, he already has four receptions for 90 yards after catching a 55-yarder from QB Eli Manning to put the G-Men in the red zone.

(1:29PM) TOUCHDOWN: There was some concern about the health status of Falcons WR Julio Jones today but he just caught the first touchdown of the game from QB Matt Ryan. Julio has hauled in all four targets for 28 yards in the first quarter.

(1:27PM) TOUCHDOWN: Dallas was shut out last week but they're now back on track after QB Dak Prescott scored on a seven-yard scramble, giving his team the lead over Tampa Bay. Prescott hit WR Michael Gallup for a 31-yard gain on the drive.

(1:23PM) TOUCHDOWN: Jaguars HC Doug Marrone got a vote of confidence this morning and will reportedly be back in 2019. His team answered the Dolphins score with a touchdown of their own as RB Leonard Fournette ran in a one-yard score. Fournette touched the ball seven times for 33 yards on the initial drive.

(1:20PM) TOUCHDOWN: Veteran QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski have been showing the wear of long careers and a long season and the Pats will obviously be without WR Josh Gordon moving forward. This should mean a lot of rookie RB Sony Michel today. The rookie begins the game with a short touchdown run among his five carries for 43 yards.

(1:18PM) With QB Cam Newton on the shelf for the Panthers, we should expect to see a heavy dose of RB Christian McCaffrey. On the opening drive, CMC touched the ball eight times, gaining 45 yards.

(1:16PM) TOUCHDOWN: A fourth-down short pass to Eagles RB Darren Sproles turned into much more as the veteran back weaved through defenders on his way to a 37-yard touchdown, giving the Eagles and QB Nick Foles an early lead over Houston.

(1:14PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Panthers have taken the early lead as QB Taylor Heinicke led a scoring drive on the first drive of his first career start. Heinicke found rookie TE Ian Thomas alone in the paint for a one-yard score.

(1:09PM) TOUCHDOWN: The Dolphins are the first team to find the end zone today after QB Ryan Tannehill's short pitch to veteran RB Brandon Bolden for the four-yard score. Miami got into the end zone on a 31-yard catch and run by rookie RB Kalen Ballage, playing in place of injured veteran Frank Gore
