Targets and Touches

Week 4 NFC Targets/Touches

by Justin Bailey
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

Targets and Touches will only have players’ six most recent games, regardless if they were active or on a bye. The data will be in descending order of games played. NFC will debut on Tuesday, and the AFC will be posted on Wednesday. You can read the NFC Targets and Touches here.

All targets and touches data is compiled from Pro Football Reference. Cornerback data is sourced via Pro Football Focus.

Note: I decided to include more players into the Targets and Touches format for the rest of the season. For simplicity, cornerbacks who see at least 50 percent of the week’s snaps will be included.

Arizona Cardinals

Targets: Larry Fitzgerald (10, 11, 12, 7), John Brown (4, 3, 11, 16), Michael Floyd (7, 6, 11, 7), David Johnson (6, 5, 6, 4), Jaron Brown (2, 2, 6, 5), Darren Fells (0, 5, 2, 2), Jermaine Gresham (4, 1, 1, 1), Andre Ellington (2, 1, 0, 1), J.J. Nelson (2, 0, 0, 1), Troy Niklas (0, 1, 1, 0), Chris Johnson (0, 0, 0, 1)

Carries: David Johnson (16, 12, 19, 17), Chris Johnson (1, 16, 2, 6), Andre Ellington (0, 1, 0, 1), Carson Palmer (2, 0, 0, 0), Larry Fitzgerald (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Targets: Larry Fitzgerald (3, 3, 1, 0), Michael Floyd (3, 2, 1, 1), David Johnson (1, 1, 1, 2), Jermaine Gresham (1, 1, 0, 0), John Brown (0, 0, 0, 2), Darren Fells (0, 1, 0, 0)

RZ Carries: David Johnson (4, 2, 6, 1), Chris Johnson (1, 6, 0, 1)

CBs Thrown At (via PFF): Patrick Peterson 3, 8, 4, 7 (2-13, 3-38-1, 2-24, 3-48), Marcus Cooper 12, 9, 5 (8-94, 5-41, 4-106-2)

Observations: He once was lost, but now he’s found - John Brown has seen 27 targets in the last two weeks, he also played 91 percent of the snaps in Week 4. Carson Palmer the game with a concussion. The Arizona pass-catchers would take a hit if Drew Stanton were to suit up over Palmer against the 49ers.

Atlanta Falcons

Targets: Julio Jones (8, 5, 7, 15), Jacob Tamme (8, 8, 4, 2), Mohamed Sanu (8, 5, 4, 3), Tevin Coleman (6, 2, 3, 4), Devonta Freeman (4, 0, 5, 3), Taylor Gabriel (0, 3, 3, 3), Aldrick Robinson (0, 3, 2, 3), Justin Hardy (2, 3, 2, 0), Austin Hooper (1, 3, 0, 1), Levine Toilolo (0, 2, 0, 1), Patrick DiMarco (1, 0, 0, 2)

Carries: Devonta Freeman (11, 17, 14, 13), Tevin Coleman (8, 12, 12, 8), Matt Ryan (3, 0, 5, 4)

RZ Carries: Devonta Freeman (4, 3, 3, 3), Tevin Coleman (1, 4, 6, 1), Matt Ryan (0, 0, 3, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Robert Alford 7, 4, 8, 6 (4-91-1, 3-24-1, 6-61, 3-51), Desmond Trufant 6, 7, 7, 7 (3-22, 4-73-1, 2-37, 3-39-1), Brian Poole 3, 3, 9, 8 (1-26, 2-12, 7-45-1, 5-62-1)

Observations: I’m not even sure how to describe Julio Jones’ massive 300-yard receiving day. The Carolina corners were simply over-matched. Bene Benwikere saw the brunt of it, as he was targeted 10 times, surrendering eight receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns to the Falcons offense.

Carolina Panthers

Targets: Greg Olsen (9, 8, 10, 13), Kelvin Benjamin (12, 9, 1, 7), Corey Brown (2, 6, 5, 7), Fozzy Whittaker (1, 4, 6, 9), Ted Ginn (1, 4, 7, 5), Devin Funchess (4, 4, 2, 3), Mike Tolbert (1, 1, 3, 1), Ed Dickson (0, 1, 1, 2), Jonathan Stewart (1, 2, 0, 0), Cameron Artis-Payne (0, 0, 1, 0)

Carries: Cam Newton (11, 6, 7, 5), Fozzy Whittaker (3, 16, 5, 3), Jonathan Stewart (15, 5, 0, 0), Cameron Artis-Payne (0, 0, 12, 6), Mike Tolbert (2, 9, 2, 1), Ted Ginn (1, 1, 2, 0)

RZ Targets: Greg Olsen (2, 0, 0, 3), Kelvin Benjamin (1, 2, 0, 1), Corey Brown (0, 1, 0, 2), Devin Funchess (1, 1, 0, 0), Mike Tolbert (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Carries: Mike Tolbert (0, 4, 0, 0), Cam Newton (1, 1, 1, 0), Fozzy Whittaker (0, 2, 1, 0), Jonathan Stewart (2, 0, 0, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Bene Benwikere 4, 6, 0, 10 (3-35, 3-25, 0-0, 8-228-2), Daryl Worley 5 (3-73)

Observations: Cam Newton exited Sunday’s game with a concussion and Kelvin Benjamin caught Cam’s only touchdown pass before his exit. Benjamin’s production has slowed down with three receptions in the last two games. Greg Olsen remains the most reliable skill position on this offense.

RZ Targets: Kevin White (0, 2, 2, 1), Zach Miller (0, 0, 4, 1), Eddie Royal (1, 1, 1, 1), Alshon Jeffery (0, 2, 1, 0), Jordan Howard (0, 0, 1, 1), Cameron Meredith (0, 0, 0, 1), Ka'Deem Carey (0, 1, 0, 0)

RZ Carries: Jordan Howard (0, 0, 2, 3), Jeremy Langford (2, 2, 0, 0), Brian Hoyer (0, 0, 1, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Cre’von LeBlanc 0, 1 (0-0, 1-10), Bryce Callahan 9 (4-15)

Observations: Jordan Howard stepped in for the injured Jeremy Langford, and he didn’t disappoint. Howard played 91 percent of the snaps and handled 89 percent of the RB touches for the Bears. He averaged 4.8 YPC, rushing for 111 yards on 23 carries. The Bears continue to spread the ball around fairly evenly between their pass-catchers. Alshon Jeffery’s volume has been disappointing for fantasy owners this season.

Dallas Cowboys

Targets: Cole Beasley (12, 6, 7, 4), Jason Witten (14, 4, 2, 9), Dez Bryant (5, 12, 6, 0), Terrance Williams (4, 0, 4, 6), Brice Butler (2, 1, 1, 9), Ezekiel Elliott (2, 2, 2, 1), Lance Dunbar (2, 2, 0, 2), Geoff Swaim (1, 2, 1, 0), Alfred Morris (1, 0, 1, 0)

Carries: Ezekiel Elliott (20, 21, 30, 23), Alfred Morris (7, 5, 5, 7), Dak Prescott (2, 1, 4, 5), Lance Dunbar (0, 3, 1, 1), Lucky Whitehead (0, 0, 1, 1), Cole Beasley (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Targets: Jason Witten (3, 2, 1, 2), Brice Butler (0, 1, 0, 2), Dez Bryant (0, 2, 1, 0), Cole Beasley (2, 0, 0, 0), Ezekiel Elliott (1, 1, 0, 0), Lance Dunbar (0, 0, 0, 1), Terrance Williams (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Carries: Ezekiel Elliott (4, 2, 1, 5), Lance Dunbar (0, 1, 1, 1), Alfred Morris (0, 1, 1, 0), Dak Prescott (0, 1, 1, 0)

CBs Thrown At: CBs Thrown At: Brandon Carr 6, 9, 7, 5 (3-31-1, 6-109, 7-81, 4-56-1),  Morris Claiborne 3, 9, 14, 3 (1-6, 4-27, 8-90), Anthony Brown 5, 6 (5-58, 3-44)

Observations: Without Dez Bryant, Brice Butler stepped in and played 82 percent of the snaps for the Cowboys. Butler tied with Jason Witten for the team lead in targets with nine. Oddly, the Cowboys’ target leader, Cole Beasley saw a season-low four targets. Bryant is expected back in Week 5.

Detroit Lions

Targets: Marvin Jones (10, 11, 8, 7), Golden Tate (7, 9, 6, 4), Theo Riddick (5, 5, 9, 7), Eric Ebron (5, 7, 8, 5), Anquan Boldin (3, 7, 6, 8), Ameer Abdullah (5, 0, 0, 0), Andre Roberts (1, 0, 1, 1), Cole Wick (1, 0, 1, 1), Dwayne Washington (0, 0, 1, 1), Khari Lee (0, 0, 0, 1), Zach Zenner (0, 0, 0, 1)

Carries: Theo Riddick (7, 11, 10, 11), Ameer Abdullah (12, 6, 0, 0), Dwayne Washington (2, 4, 10, 2), Matthew Stafford (2, 2, 2, 2), Zach Zenner (0, 0, 0, 3), Golden Tate (1, 0, 1, 0)

RZ Targets: Theo Riddick (2, 1, 2, 1), Marvin Jones (1, 1, 1, 0), Anquan Boldin (0, 0, 1, 1), Eric Ebron (1, 1, 0, 0), Ameer Abdullah (1, 0, 0, 0), Golden Tate (1, 0, 0, 0)

RZ Carries: Theo Riddick (0, 1, 1, 2), Dwayne Washington (2, 0, 1, 0), Ameer Abdullah (1, 1, 0, 0), Golden Tate (1, 0, 0, 0), Zach Zenner (0, 0, 0, 1)

CBs Thrown At: Darius Slay 10, 6, 5, 5 (5-80, 3-30, 3-31-1, 2-12), Nevin Lawson 4, 4, 2, 5 (4-59-1, 2-62-1, 1-9, 4-25-1)

Observations: Heading into this season Golden Tate was projected to be a volume-fueled PPR stud, but that hasn’t been the case this year. Tate was benched after running the wrong route, and in turn, he played 57 percent of the snaps. Dwayne Washington was expected to see an expanded role, but unfortunately, he left the game early with a sprained foot and ankle. It was a huge “welp” to DFS players who rostered him for $4,500 on FanDuel.

Green Bay Packers - Bye in Week 4

Targets: Jordy Nelson (9, 11, 7), Randall Cobb (8, 7, 3), Davante Adams (7, 7, 2), Jared Cook (2, 6, 3), Richard Rodgers (3, 2, 3), Eddie Lacy (2, 1, 2), James Starks (1, 1, 2), Trevor Davis (0, 1, 1), Jared Abbrederis (1, 0, 0),Justin Perillo (0, 0, 1)

RZ Targets: Jordy Nelson (3, 2, 3), Davante Adams (1, 1, 1), Randall Cobb (2, 0, 1), Jared Cook (0, 0, 1), Richard Rodgers (0, 0, 1)

RZ Carries: Eddie Lacy (5, 2, 2), James Starks (1, 2, 0), Aaron Rodgers (1, 1, 0), Randall Cobb (1, 0, 0)

CBs Thrown At:  Damarious Randall 7, 8, 5 (3-20, 7-161-1, 3-85-1), Quinten Rollins 6, 1, 5 (4-98-1, 0-0, 4-39-1), Ladarius Gunter 4, 5 (4-48, 2-0)

Carries: Todd Gurley (17, 19, 27, 19), Case Keenum (3, 3, 2, 3), Tavon Austin (1, 2, 2, 1), Benny Cunningham (1, 1, 2, 0), Malcolm Brown (1, 0, 0, 0)

RZ Targets: Tavon Austin (0, 1, 0, 1), Brian Quick (0, 0, 0, 1), Kenny Britt (0, 1, 0, 0), Lance Kendricks (0, 0, 1, 0), Todd Gurley (0, 0, 0, 1), Tyler Higbee (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Carries: Todd Gurley (0, 1, 7, 3), Case Keenum (0, 0, 1, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Lamarcus Joyner 9, 6, 12, 3 (7-57, 3-18, 9-76, 2-25), Trumaine Johnson 5, 4, 14, 11 (3-20, 3-18, 10-119-1, 5-66), E.J. Gaines 7 (6-55)

Observations: Todd Gurley is having a tough go of it in 2016. He’s 4th in the league with 82 carries, but he ranks 21st in yards (216) and 41st in YPC (2.6) through four games. Fantasy owners may be struggling with the equity they invested into Gurley.

Minnesota Vikings

Targets: Stefon Diggs (9, 11, 7, 7), Kyle Rudolph (8, 8, 10, 7), Adam Thielen (5, 5, 4, 3), Charles Johnson (6, 2, 2, 4), Jerick McKinnon (2, 1, 2, 5), Cordarrelle Patterson (1, 0, 1, 6), Adrian Peterson (2, 3, 0, 0), Matt Asiata (0, 1, 1, 2), Rhett Ellison (0, 0, 1, 1), MyCole Pruitt (0, 0, 0, 1)

RZ Targets: Kyle Rudolph (0, 1, 3, 2), Adam Thielen (0, 0, 1, 1), Jerick McKinnon (0, 0, 0, 2), Stefon Diggs (0, 2, 0, 0)

RZ Carries: Jerick McKinnon (0, 0, 2, 3), Matt Asiata (2, 0, 1, 1), Adrian Peterson (3, 0, 0, 0), Stefon Diggs (1, 0, 0, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Terence Newman 9, 5, 3, 7 (5-46, 2-12, 1-9, 4-36), Captain Munnerlyn 1, 7, 7, 8 (1-5, 4-36, 6-87, 6-36), Xavier Rhodes 3, 7 (0-0, 3-23)

Observations:  Kyle Rudolph scored once again on Monday night and brought his red zone target total to six for the Vikings. That’s two more than Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen combined. Jerick McKinnon played 62 percent of the snaps, to Matt Asiata’s 39 percent. McKinnon saw 21 touches and draws the Texans at home next. The Vikings opened as 5.5-point favorites and should make for a nice play on FanDuel for $6,200.

New Orleans Saints

Targets: Brandin Cooks (9, 9, 8, 6), Michael Thomas (6, 5, 11, 9), Coby Fleener (4, 8, 11, 5), Mark Ingram (2, 4, 6, 7), Willie Snead (9, 8, 0, 1), Travaris Cadet (7, 3, 6, 0), Brandon Coleman (0, 4, 8, 3), Tommylee Lewis (0, 1, 4, 1), John Kuhn (1, 2, 0, 2), Daniel Lasco (0, 0, 0, 2), Tim Hightower (1, 0, 0, 0)

Carries: Mark Ingram (12, 9, 15, 18), Tim Hightower (4, 3, 3, 4), Drew Brees (2, 0, 2, 4), John Kuhn (2, 1, 1, 3), Daniel Lasco (0, 0, 0, 4), Brandin Cooks (1, 0, 1, 0), Tommylee Lewis (0, 0, 1, 1), Travaris Cadet (1, 0, 0, 0)

RZ Targets: Michael Thomas (0, 0, 4, 2), Brandin Cooks (3, 0, 1, 0), Mark Ingram (0, 1, 2, 1), Brandon Coleman (0, 0, 2, 1), John Kuhn (1, 0, 0, 2), Travaris Cadet (3, 0, 0, 0), Coby Fleener (0, 1, 1, 0), Willie Snead (1, 1, 0, 0)

RZ Carries: Mark Ingram (1, 0, 2, 5), John Kuhn (1, 0, 1, 2), Daniel Lasco (0, 0, 0, 3), Tim Hightower (0, 0, 0, 2), Brandin Cooks (0, 0, 1, 0), Drew Brees (1, 0, 0, 0), Tommylee Lewis (0, 0, 0, 1)

CBs Thrown At:  Ken Crawley 7, 5, 9, 5 (6-64-1, 4-58, 3-34, 4-39), Sterling Moore 9, 2, 7 (6-62, 1-6, 4-46), B.W. Webb 7 (3-47)

Observations: It’s hard for any Saints player to stand out from a fantasy standpoint when John Kuhn scored three touchdowns. Brandin Cooks, Michael Thomas, Willie Snead and Coby Fleener all caught between one and three passes as Drew Brees spread the ball around. Snead saw a single target and played a season-low 67 percent of the snaps.

New York Giants

Targets: Odell Beckham (8, 11, 11, 9), Sterling Shepard (4, 8, 7, 7), Victor Cruz (4, 8, 3, 9), Will Tye (3, 3, 5, 6), Shane Vereen (5, 3, 5, 0), Bobby Rainey (0, 0, 2, 9), Larry Donnell (2, 5, 4, 0), Orleans Darkwa (0, 1, 1, 2), Rashad Jennings (2, 2, 0, 0), Paul Perkins (0, 0, 0, 3)

Carries: Rashad Jennings (18, 13, 0, 0), Shane Vereen (6, 14, 11, 0), Orleans Darkwa (0, 1, 10, 12), Bobby Rainey (0, 0, 0, 4), Eli Manning (0, 4, 0, 0), Paul Perkins (0, 0, 0, 2)

CBs Thrown At: Janoris Jenkins 4, 12, 6, 5 (1-15, 8-51, 5-48, 2-10), Trevin Wade 8 (5-95-1)

Observations: Sterling Shephard, Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr all saw seven or more targets, but failed to reach over 50 yards receiving against this tough Vikings defense. Bobby Rainey saw nine targets out of the backfield and led all Giants RBs with 42 percent of the snaps. He could hold the passing-down role as long as Shane Vereen is out.

Philadelphia Eagles - Bye in Week 4

Targets: Jordan Matthews (14, 9, 3), Nelson Agholor (5, 7, 3), Darren Sproles (5, 2, 6), Trey Burton (0, 7, 6),Dorial Green-Beckham (2, 4, 4), Josh Huff (3, 1, 5), Zach Ertz (7, 0, 0), Brent Celek (1, 1, 4), Ryan Mathews (0, 1, 0), Wendell Smallwood (0, 1, 0)

RZ Carries: Carlos Hyde (5, 4, 8, 3), Blaine Gabbert (1, 1, 1, 2), Shaun Draughn (2, 1, 0, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Tramaine Brock 8, 4, 6, 2 (3-16, 2-56, 3-80, 2-24-2), Rashard Robinson 6 (3-20)

Observations: Jeremy Kerley saw signs of life after putting up a 6-88-1 line. Most of his value will be in PPR leagues, but his floor and upside will remain limited in this offense. Carlos Hyde salvaged his fantasy day with a touchdown and a long 32-yard run.

Seattle Seahawks

Targets: Doug Baldwin (11, 6, 10, 4), Jimmy Graham (1, 4, 9, 8), Jermaine Kearse (7, 6, 2, 3), Christine Michael (4, 4, 3, 6), Tyler Lockett (8, 4, 0, 3), Luke Willson (4, 1, 3, 3), Paul Richardson (2, 6, 0, 1), Thomas Rawls (3, 3, 0, 0), C.J.
