Waiver Wired: Add Stastny

Updated On: January 20, 2019, 1:33 pm ET

Brandon Pirri, who is still available in 73% of Yahoo leagues, has eight goals and 13 points in 12 games with the Golden Knights this year. Brock Nelson had a modest increase from 24% last week to 28%, while Jordan Binnington’s ownership skyrocketed from 16% to 36%. Bryan Little’s seven-game point streak was snapped on Saturday. He is owned in just 15% of Yahoo leagues. Ondrej Palat, who has six points in the last eight contests, is available in 90% of Yahoo leagues.

Mike Green (owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues), T.J. Brodie (owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues), Nick Leddy (owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues) get honorable mentions this week if you are seeking some assistance on the back end for this week.

Now, let’s get into this week’s recommendations:

Paul Stastny (VGK) - C - Owned in 27% of Yahoo leagues

Stastny has accumulated six goals and 16 points in 16 games after missing 23 games due to a lower-body injury. He has been logging time with Alex Tuch, who leads the Golden Knights in scoring, while seeing action with Max Pacioretty and Brandon Pirri as well. Stastny has been producing at a 60-point pace and should be owned in more fantasy leagues.

Colin Miller (VGK) - D - Owned in 24% of Yahoo leagues

Miller collected up two assists in his return to the lineup on Saturday night. He was playing well before he went on the shelf with a concussion, with five assists in five appearances, and he picked up where he left off with a strong effort against Pittsburgh. Miller recorded 41 points in 80 games last season and he is generating points at a slightly higher rate in 2018-19 despite a rough start and some injury issues. He also has 65 shots, 42 blocks and 64 hits in 37 matches.

Anthony Mantha (DET) - LW, RW - Owned in 24% of Yahoo leagues

Mantha has heated up in January with three goals and five points in the last six games. He ranks third on the Red Wings in goals per game. Mantha is not a stranger to hot and cold stretches, but he is worth riding while he’s playing well.  He has been praised for his improved play and earning the trust of Detroit's coaching staff, which will put him in more situations to succeed.

Mats Zuccarello (NYR) - RW - Owned in 20% of Yahoo leagues

Zuccarello has accounted for four goals and six helpers in the past seven contests. He struggled to generate much offensively in November and December, with one marker and three assists in 16 games prior to his current hot stretch. Zuccarello had a strong start to the 2018-19 campaign, though, with 10 points in 12 matches, and he appears to have gotten himself back on track. He has been clicking with the Rangers’ leading scorer, Mika Zibanejad, during his current stretch of success.

Phillip Danault (MTL) - C - Owned in 18% of Yahoo leagues

Danault has compiled 18 points, including 12 assists, in the last 19 matches. He had a four-game point streak snapped on Saturday, but his recent play warrants a flyer at this time. The bulk of his goals came in two appearances, including a hat trick performance back on Dec. 22 against Vegas. Danault has been seeing ice time alongside Brendan Gallager, Jonathan Drouin and Tomas Tatar this season.

Joonas Korpisalo (CBJ) - G - Owned in 16% of Yahoo leagues

Korpisalo’s numbers won’t jump out at you even though he has a 9-3-2 record. He has a 2.95 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 19 appearances. However, Korpisalo had been playing well until his three-game win streak was snapped on Friday by Montreal. He had a 1.62 goals-against average and .949 save percentage during that span. With Sergei Bobrovsky’s days in Columbus seemingly numbered, Korpisalo has the potential to be a good handcuff for now and has even more upside if his recently-improved play continues and he can steal some more starts from Bobrovsky.

Carl Soderberg (COL) - C - Owned in 14% of Yahoo leagues

Soderberg has tallied six goals and two assists in the last nine outings. The bulk of his production during that span has come in three multi-point efforts over the past six outings. Soderberg is on pace to return to the 50-point plateau for the second time in his career and he has already tied his previous personal best for goals in a season with 16. That’s quite the turnaround after he struggled mightily in 2016-17, with 14 points in 80 contests, and only had 37 points in 77 appearances last year. Soderberg has been centering the second line of the Avalanche, while supplying some much-needed secondary scoring for the top-heavy Avalanche.

Joe Thornton (SJS) - C - Owned in 12% of Yahoo leagues

Thornton has scored 10 goals in 40 games this season, but he has collected half of that production in the last 10 matches. The veteran center has generated seven points in the past 11 outings. Thornton has worked his way back up the depth chart and is currently playing with Joe Pavelski.  The Sharks are one of just nine teams that play a league-high two games this week before the All-Star break.

Bobby Ryan (OTT) - LW, RW - Owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Ryan has been all over the scoreheet since the end of December. He has recorded four goals and 11 points in the last 14 games. Ryan has been developing some chemistry with Matt Duchene and is worthy of a flyer while he’s hot.

Frank Vatrano (FLA) - C, LW, RW - Owned in 6% of Yahoo leagues

Vatrano has picked up five goals and two assists in the last 10 games. He has been picking up points for a while now, with a total of 12, including seven goals, in the past 19 outings. Vatrano is worthy of fantasy consideration at this time because he was recently promoted to Florida’s top line with Aleksander Barkov and Evgenii Dadonov.
