Waiver Wired: No signs of Staal-ing

Ryan Strome’s ownership increased from 20% to 46% from a week ago.  Michal Kempny is still available in 79% of Yahoo leagues, while Oskar Lindblom can be had in 88% of Yahoo leagues.

Philipp Grubauer’s lower-body injury has opened the door for Pavel Francouz (owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues).  It’s unclear how much longer Grubauer will be out, but Francouz has some value until he comes back.

Eric Staal (MIN) - C - Owned in 26% of Yahoo leagues

Staal’s six-game point streak came to an end on Saturday night.  He had four goals and five assists during that span.  Staal has amassed six goals and 13 points in the last 10 matches.  He was playing through an injury early in the year, but that appears to be behind him now and he’s been racking up points on the top line of the Wild.

Tony DeAngelo (NYR) - D - Owned in 25% of Yahoo leagues

DeAngelo has been a pleasant surprise this season with 12 points, including five goals, through 14 contests.  He has one goal and three helpers during a three-game point spree.  DeAngelo has been quarterbacking the top power-play unit of the Rangers and he is tied for the team lead with five points with the man advantage.  He has also been credited with 30 shots.

David Krejci (BOS) - C - Owned in 23% of Yahoo leagues

Krejci has skated in 10 games this season and he has collected seven points.  He has two goals and four assists in five outings since returning to the lineup from a five-game absence due to an upper-body injury.  Boston doesn’t get much scoring beyond the top line, but Krejci has proven to be a good source of offense.  He had 73 points a year ago, which will be a tough act to follow, but a 60-point pace is attainable for the 33-year-old pivot.

Devon Toews (NYI) - D - Owned in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Toews is another blueliner who has been flying under the radar.  He has 10 points in 16 appearances this season.  Toews hasn’t gone more than two games without picking up a point. He has also been credited with 21 blocks and 27 shots in 2019-20.  Toews, who has two power-play points, serves as the lone defenseman on the man-advantage combination that features Mathew Barzal and Jordan Eberle.

Bryan Rust (PIT) - LW, RW - Owned in 11% of Yahoo leagues

Rust has registered at least one point in each of his six outings this season.  He made his season debut on Oct. 26 after sitting out the first 11 games of the year due to a hand injury.  Rust has been firing on all cylinders following his return with five goals, two assists and 12 shots.  He has been skating alongside Evgeni Malkin.  If Sidney Crosby misses time due to a lower-body injury then Malkin and Rust will be leaned on heavily.

Robby Fabbri (DET) - LW, RW - Owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Fabbri made an immediate impact in his Detroit debut on Friday night with a pair of power-play goals.  He looked good on the top unit with Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi, who set up both of his goals.  Fabbri skated at even strength with Andreas Athanasiou and Valtteri Filppula.  He finished the match with 13:15 of ice time, but has the chance to seize an expanded role with the Red Wings.  The fresh start will do him some good and he’s worth monitoring at the vert least.

Anthony Duclair (OTT) - LW, RW - Owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Duclair has been hot following a sluggish start to the year.  He has been held off the scoresheet once over the last eight games, while recording five goals and three assists during that stretch.  Duclair is currently on the top line with Brady Tkachuk and Chris TierneyJean-Gabriel Pageau (owned in 32% of Yahoo leagues) is another option if he’s available.  He has five goals and one assist during a five-game point streak.  Ottawa has a busy schedule with four games on tap for this coming week.

Joonas Donskoi (COL) - LW, RW - Owned in 8% of Yahoo leagues

Donskoi has been playing alongside Nathan MacKinnon following injuries to Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog.  He has scored five goals in the last seven games, which includes a hat trick this past Thursday versus Nashville.  Donskoi has also been seeing time on the top power-play unit.

Christian Dvorak (ARI) - C - Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues

Dvorak has contributed two goals and one assist in the last five games.  He has been productive in bunches this campaign.  Dvorak has been skating on the top line of the Coyotes with Phil Kessel and Nick Schmaltz.  He is also playing on the top power-play unit.  Arizona has four games scheduled for this coming week, so Dvorak could be worthy of an add if he gets on a roll.

Jack Roslovic (WPG) - C, RW - Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues

Roslovic has been playing on the second line with Blake Wheeler and Nikolaj Ehlers.  He scored a power-play goal on Friday against Vancouver, while playing on the second unit.  Roslovic is getting a chance to play higher up in the lineup and he has the talent to be a difference maker.  He has one goal and two assists in the last five games.
