Hopefully, you jumped on Kailer Yamamoto and Tyler Toffoli last week. They were owned in 26% and 10% of Yahoo leagues, respectively, when they appeared on Waiver Wired a week ago. Now, Yamamoto’s ownership has increased to 42%, while Toffoli’s ballooned to 45% following a trade to Vancouver. Pavel Francouz also went from 22% to 45% because of an injury to Philipp Grubauer.

Zach Hyman (Toronto) - C, LW - Owned in 33% of Yahoo leagues
Hyman’s scoring has reached another level this season with 19 goals and 34 points in 44 games. He’s producing at a 60-point pace in 2019-20 despite missing the first 19 games of the year following off-season knee surgery. Hyman has worked well in Toronto’s top-six forward group, while mostly playing alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
Anthony Cirelli (Tampa Bay) - C - Owned in 30% of Yahoo leagues
Cirelli has produced one goal and two assists during a three-game point streak. He has already reached personal bests in 2019-20 with 27 assists and 42 points through 60 appearances. Cirelli also has a plus-27 rating, 103 shots and 77 hits, while averaging a career-high 18:19 of ice time per match. Cirelli has been centering Tampa Bay’s second line for the majority of the year. He has clicked with Alex Killorn, who is also having a career year, and newcomer Blake Coleman.
Nick Suzuki (Montreal) - C, RW - Owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues
Suzuki has provided four goals and 13 points in the last 14 games. He has played well since taking over as the team’s number two center and will continue to play a prominent role in the team’s offense down the stretch. Suzuki is currently tied for the team lead with 14 power-play points, while ranking second on the Canadiens with six goals on the man advantage.
Mikael Backlund (Calgary) - C, RW - Owned in 28% of Yahoo leagues
Backlund appeared on Waiver Wired last week when he was owned in 21% of Yahoo leagues. He’s worth mentioning again with the Flames set to play four times this coming week. Backlund has generated six goals and 11 points in the past eight games. He has been red hot while centering the second line between Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane.
Paul Stastny (Vegas) - C - Owned in 25% of Yahoo leagues
Stastny has racked up 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in the last 22 games. He has one goal and three assists during a three-game point streak after going three matches without a point. Stastny has been back in Vegas’ top-six forward group between Reilly Smith and Jonathan Marchessault recently. He is also centering the team’s top power-play unit, which grants him exposure to Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty.
Pavel Buchnevich (New York Rangers) - RW - Owned in 19% of Yahoo leagues
Buchnevich has seven goals and 12 points in the last 14 matches. He has been playing well alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. He has been held off the scoresheet for the last two games, but he has bounce-back potential during a busy week, with four games, for the Rangers. If Buchnevich doesn’t quite do it for you, Jesper Fast (owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues) is another option. He has three goals in the last two matches, while playing alongside red-hot forwards Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome.
Nate Schmidt (Vegas) - D - Owned in 18% of Yahoo leagues
Schmidt is still flying under the radar in the majority of Yahoo leagues. He has seven goals and 29 points in 51 games this season, including three markers and eight assists in the past 14 contests. Schmidt also has 79 blocks and 101 shots this campaign.
Nikita Gusev (New Jersey) - LW, RW - Owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues
Gusev has provided 18 assists and 23 points in the past 29 matches. The bulk of that production came in January, but he has started to heat up again of late with four helpers in the last two games. Gusev has collected three power-play assists during that span. He could be worthy of a flier with the Devils scheduled to play four times this week.
Ondrej Kase (Boston) - RW - Owned in 8% of Yahoo leagues
Kase was acquired by Boston this week from Anaheim. He hasn’t performed up to expectations this season, but his career-worst 5.2 shooting percentage is not something that should continue once he’s ready to play for the Bruins. Kase is a high-volume shooter with plenty of upside, but he hasn’t had much luck this year. He is expected to get a chance to play alongside fellow Czech forward David Krejci and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he became a solid contributor for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign. He is worth stashing away on your injured reserve list.
Alex Nedeljkovic (Carolina) - G - Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues
Nedeljkovic and Anton Forsberg are expected to be called up by Carolina later today barring a trade. The Hurricanes lost James Reimer (lower body) and Petr Mrazek (upper body) to injuries on Saturday night. Nedeljkovic has been excellent again in the AHL this season after he captured the AHL’s best goaltender award last year. Nedeljkovic made his first NHL start in 2018-19 and he stopped 24 shots in a 5-2 win over Vancouver. His previous outing with the Hurricanes came in 2016-17 in relief against Columbus when he stopped all 17 shots he faced. Carolina is a very goalie-friendly team and the 24-year-old netminder is worth scooping up if he gets to play this coming week.
