Updated On: February 7, 2020, 7:05 pm ET

It’s Hockey Day in America Sunday February 16, and NBC as well as NBCSN, will fill 10 hours of programing with three games and plenty of features, celebrating the great game of hockey.

NBC will show Pittsburgh at Detroit and the New York Rangers at Boston before NBCSN takes over with an evening clash between St. Louis and Nashville.

It should be a great day of celebrating the great game of hockey!

Arizona, Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Edmonton, the New York Islanders, the New York Rangers, Philadelphia and St. Louis play three games on the road.

INJURIES

Frederik Andersen is day-to-day with a neck injury. (Click here to see the rest of the injury list.)

ANAHEIM

Games this week

vs. St. Louis, vs. Calgary, @ Vancouver

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

The Ducks recalled Daniel Sprong from the minors earlier in the week. Ryan Miller was outstanding on Saturday as he stopped 46-of-47 shots in a 3-1 win over cross-town Los Angeles. Rickard Rakell has a four-game points streak going and has 33 points in 48 games. He had back-to-back 30-plus goal seasons in 2017-18 and 2018-19 but had only 18 last season and has just 13 this year. It has been a tougher season for John Gibson as the netminder is 16-21-4 with a 2.96 GAA and a .904 save percentage. The lousy record was expected as Anaheim is not a strong team but his peripherals have been mediocre this season, especially compared to past years.

ARIZONA

Games this week

@ Montreal, @ Toronto, @ Ottawa, vs. Washington

Tired: @ Toronto (Tuesday)

Rested: None

Notes

The Coyotes play three games on the road in four nights in Eastern Canada as part of their four-game week. While Darcy Kuemper is making progress from his lower-body injury suffered on December 19, he has no timetable for his return at this time. Antti Raanta should get three starts in net with Adin Hill picking up one. Conor Garland continues to be the Coyotes top goal-scorer as he is up to 19 after his goal against Carolina Thursday. The Coyotes sent Barrett Hayton to the minors on a conditioning stint. The 19-year-old was injured in the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships a month ago with a shoulder injury and should be back with the big club shortly. Oliver Ekman-Larsson has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury.

BOSTON

Games this week

vs. Montreal, vs. Detroit, @ New York Rangers

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

Danton Heinen has sat out the last three games with an undisclosed injury but has been skating. The Bruins continue to get great goaltending as both Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak are having fine seasons. Rask is 19-4-6 with a 2.15 GAA and a .929 save percentage while Halak’s numbers are 14-6-6/2.36/.921. Both have three shutouts. After leading the NHL in goals all season, David Pastrnak has fallen to third with 38 goals, two behind Alex Ovechkin and one in arrears of Auston Matthews. Pastrnak has only tallied one goal in his last five games. Karson Kuhlman has moved up to the second line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci. He is worth looking at in deep leagues. Anders Bjork has a three-game points streak.

BUFFALO

Games this week

vs. Detroit, vs. Columbus

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

The Sabres play only twice this week. Rasmus Dahlin is hurt again and has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury. He suffered a concussion earlier in the season that cost him eight games. Jonas Johansson made his first NHL start Thursday and dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the lowly Detroit Red Wings. He replaced Carter Hutton Tuesday in his first NHL action after Hutton gave up five goals on only 13 shots to Colorado. You have to feel bad for Jack Eichel as he is putting up great numbers once again with 31 goals and 66 points in 53 games but the Sabres will miss the playoffs yet again. He is only 23 but has to be frustrated with the lack of talent around him. Dahlin and Sam Reinhart have worked out from drafts but when you have three picks in the top-two in five years, you expect to be a lot better than this.

CALGARY

Games this week

@ San Jose, @ Los Angeles, @ Anaheim, vs. Chicago

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

The Flames play four games this week including three in four nights. Look for David Rittich to play two or three times with Cam Talbot picking up the remainder of the starts. Mark Giordano is week-to-week with a hamstring pull. Rasmus Andersson will benefit from his injury as he saw 24:39 of action Thursday. Calgary is falling in the standing as they are 2-5-1 in their last eight with both wins coming via the shootout. They play their next four games on the road and could be in serious jeopardy as far as their playoff chances go, if they do not start winning. Ryan Lomberg will need ankle surgery and as a result is month-to-month.

CAROLINA

Games this week

@ Dallas, vs. New Jersey, vs. Edmonton

Tired: None

Rested: vs. New Jersey (Friday), vs. Edmonton (Sunday)

Notes

The Hurricanes are in a battle for a playoff spot and currently sit in the second wild card in the East. Andrei Svechnikov established a career-high in goals as the 19-year-old sophomore scored his 22nd goal Thursday as part of a two-goal, one assist night against Arizona. He has 22 goals and 50 points in 54 games and is a star in the making in Carolina. Sebastian Aho also scored twice Thursday and has a four-game goal-scoring streak. The Finnish center has 29 goals and 49 points and is only one off his career high in goals, set last season. Aho has only 20 assists, far off last season’s career-best 53 but his goal scoring this season has been a pleasant surprise. Ryan Dzingel was a big off-season signing by Carolina but he was made a healthy scratch a week ago. He responded with assists in each of the last two games. Jake Gardiner has had a tough go of things in Carolina.

CHICAGO

Games this week

@ Edmonton, @ Vancouver, @ Calgary

Tired: @ Vancouver (Wednesday)

Rested: None

Notes

The Blackhawks are in Western Canada all week.  Brent Seabrook underwent successful hip surgery after undergoing shoulder surgery in December. Look for Seabrook to come back healthy in time for training camp. Kirby Dach has a five-game points streak. The third overall pick in the 2019 Draft has seven goals and 17 points in 48 games but has taken his game to a new level of late. He is seeing time on the second power play. The Blackhawks claimed Nick Seeler off waivers from Minnesota this week but has been a healthy scratch in the two games since. Alex DeBrincat scored Wednesday, his first goal in six games. He has only 13 goals in 54 games after scoring 41 last season. He is talented and don’t let him slip through your fingers next season.

COLORADO

Games this week

vs. Ottawa, vs. Washington, vs. Los Angeles

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

The Avalanche made Valeri Nichushkin a reclamation project this season and after a slow start, the former 10th overall pick in 2013 by Dallas, is coming on as a middle-six forward. He has 10 goals and 21 points in his last 31 games and that includes two goals and three assists in his last three contests. He started the season with only one assist in 16 games and likely should be on someone’s roster at this time in deeper leagues. Cale Makar moved past Quinn Hughes Thursday and is now the leading scorer among rookies with 40 points after scoring once and adding an assist. Samuel Girard snapped a 33-game goalless drought Tuesday. Calle Rosen was recalled by the Avalanche as they sent Mark Barberio to the minors.

COLUMBUS

Games this week

vs. Tampa Bay, @ Buffalo, vs. New York Rangers, @ New Jersey

Tired: None

Rested: None

Notes

The Blue Jackets play four games this week including three in four nights. Joonas Korpisalo was injured December 29 and his timeline to return was four-six weeks so he should be back this week, but if not, Elvis Merzlikins will play three games with Matiss Kivlenieks playing once. Should Korpisalo return, he and Merzlikins will split the net. Eric Robinson is on crutches and day-to-day after blocking a shot Tuesday. The Blue Jackets recalled Kevin Stenlund who has four goals and six points in 17 games with Columbus including three goals on the power play. Alexander Wennberg will be out of the lineup for three-four weeks after suffering an upper-body injury. Columbus has picked up 41 points in their last 25 games, going 18-2-5.

DALLAS

Games this week

vs. Carolina, @ Toronto, @ Montreal, @ Ottawa

Tired: None

Rested: @ Montreal (Saturday)

Notes

The Stars play four times this week, including three in four nights.  Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin should share the crease.  John Klingberg has scored double-digit goals in four of his first five NHL seasons but has only three this season in 42 games after a goal Tuesday. Miro Heiskanen has taken over as the Stars best blueliner and he will be a star in Dallas for many years to come. Roope Hintz and Alexander Radulov lead the Stars with 15 goals apiece. Tyler Seguin has gone 14 games without a goal as he has only 39 points in 53 games. He has a six-season streak of at least 72 points that is in serious jeopardy.
