Wrapup: Charlotte

The NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series held their Memorial Day weekend events at the Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). On Saturday, the NXS featured the Hisense 300 at the 1.5-mile oval in Concord, North Carolina. On Sunday, the Sprint Cup ran its longest race of the season, the 600-mile, 400-lap Coca-Cola 600. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action on June 10 for the Rattlesnake 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials:
Martin Truex Jr. (#78 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Toyota Camry) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Coca-Cola 600 with a lap of 192.328 mph. This is his ninth pole in 382 NSCS races. It is his second pole and eighth top-10 start in 2016 and his first pole in 22 races at CMS. Joey Logano (second) posted his ninth top-10 start of 2016 and his fifth in 15 races at CMS. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (third) posted his second top-10 start at CMS. Chase Elliott (12th) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
Did Not Qualify: NONE, only 40 entries for the 40 car field.
Winner: Martin Truex Jr. won the Coca-Cola 600, his fourth victory in 382 NSCS races. This is his first victory and sixth top-10 finish in 2016. It is his first victory and seventh top-10 finish in 22 races at CMS. He set the Charlotte record with 392 laps led. His 588 miles led were the most in any NASCAR race in history. Kevin Harvick (second) posted his 14th top-10 finish in 31 races at CMS. Jimmie Johnson (third) posted his 18th top-10 finish in 30 races at CMS.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials:
Erik Jones (#20 GameStop Toyota Camry) won the Coors Light 21 Means 21 Pole Award for the Hisense 300 with a lap of 184.546 mph. This is his seventh pole in 37 NXS races. It is his fourth pole and 11th top-10 start in 2016 and his first pole in three races at CMS. Daniel Suarez (second) posted his 11th top-10 start of 2016 and his second in three races at CMS. Denny Hamlin (third) posted his seventh top-10 start at CMS. Jones led 14 laps but got into the wall with one lap to go forcing a Green-White-Checker finish. He was credited with a 31st place DNF in the 206-lap event.
Did Not Qualify: #40 TJ Bell and #89 Morgan Shepherd.
Winner: Sprint Cup driver Denny Hamlin (#11 Toyota Camry) won the Hisense 300, his 15th victory in 154 NXS races. This is the #18 Hisense USA Toyota Camry driver's first NXS victory and first top-10 finish in 2016. It is his first victory and seventh top-10 finish in 11 NXS races at CMS. Austin Dillon (second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in seven NXS races at CMS. Joey Logano (third) posted his eighth top-10 finish in 12 NXS races at CMS.
