Wrapup: Kansas Speedway

The Kansas Speedway (KS) hosted two races for NASCAR’s top series this past week. On Friday night, the Camping World Truck Series ran its Toyota Tundra 250. The Sprint Cup featured the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at the 1.5-mile oval Kansas City, Kansas track on Saturday night. The XFINITY Series will return to action on May 17 with the 3M 250 at Iowa Speedway (Newton, IA). Latest results for the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

Next weekend, the Sprint Cup Series will be holding its “non-points” two-night Sprint Showdown (Friday) and Sprint All-Star (Saturday) races at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Cup drivers will return to CMS the following week for Sprint Cup’s longest points race, the Coca-Cola 600, on Sunday night, May 24.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials:
Joey Logano won the Coors Light Pole Award for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 with a lap of 28.067 seconds, 192.397 mph. This is the No. 22 AAA Insurance Ford Fusion driver's 12th pole in 230 NSCS races. It is his series-leading fourth pole and ninth top-10 start in 2015. This is his first pole in 12 races at KS. Logano led 29 laps and finished the 267 lap event in fifth place.
Did Not Qualify: No. 62 Brendan Gaughan.
Winner: Jimmie Johnson won the SpongeBob SquarePants 400, his 73rd victory in 482 NSCS races. This is the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS driver's third victory and eighth top-10 finish in 2015. It is his third victory and 15th top-10 finish in 18 races at KS.

Time Trials:
Erik Jones won the Keystone Light 21 means 21 Pole Award for the Toyota Tundra 250, setting the qualifying record with a lap of 30.101 seconds, 179.396 mph. This is the No. 4 Toyota Tundra driver's third pole in 21 NCWTS races. It is his first pole and fourth top-10 start in 2015. This is his first pole and start at Kansas Speedway. Jones was also the fastest qualifying rookie. Jones led 151 laps and finished the 167 lap race in 11th place.
Did Not Qualify: NONE, only 32 entries for the 32 truck field.
Winner: Matt Crafton won the Toyota Tundra 250, his seventh victory in 342 NCWTS races. This is the No. 88 Slim Jim/Menards Toyota Tundra driver's second victory and fourth top-10 finish in 2015. It is his second victory and seventh top-10 finish in 15 races at Kansas.
