Wrapup: Kansas Speedway

Weather was not a factor this past weekend in Kansas City, Kansas, site of the NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series races. The NXS ran its Kansas Lottery 300 at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon and the Cup drivers were busy on Sunday at the track for the Holiday Casino 400. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action next weekend with the Fred's 250 at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway. The ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks Series are all complete for the season. Results and 2016 Champions are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials: Matt Kenseth (No. 20 DEWALT FLEXFOLT Toyota) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Hollywood Casino 400 (192.089 mph). This is his 18th pole in 609 NSCS races. It is his first pole and 20th top-10 start in 2016 and his third pole in 22 races at Kansas. Kyle Busch (starts second) posted his 22nd top-10 start of 2016 and his ninth in 18 races at Kansas. Carl Edwards (third) posted his ninth top-10 start at Kansas and his 25th in 31 races this season. Ryan Blaney (17th) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
Did Not Qualify: No one, 40 cars entered for 40 spots in lineup.

Results: Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Outback Chevrolet SS) won the Hollywood Casino 400, his 35th victory in 569 NSCS races. This is his fourth victory and 23rd top-10 finish in 2016 and his second victory and 11th top-10 finish in 22 races at Kansas. Carl Edwards (finished second) posted his 13th top-10 finish in 19 races at Kansas and his 17th top-10 finish in 2016. Joey Logano (third) posted his sixth top-10 finish in 15 races at Kansas. Ryan Blaney (14th) was the highest finishing rookie. Pole-sitter Matt Kenseth led 116 laps and finished the 267-lap race in ninth place. Jimmie Johnson (fourth) leads the point standings by 8 points over Matt Kenseth.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials: Sprint Cup regular Kyle Busch (No. 18 Toyota Camry), driving the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota, won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Kansas Lottery 300 (182.100 mph). This is his 56th pole in 327 NXS races. It is his first pole in 12 NXS races at Kansas. Erik Jones (starts second) posted his 29th top-10 start of 2016. Sprint Cup regular Kyle Larson (third) posted his second top-10 NXS start at Kansas Speedway and his 12th in 14 NXS races this season. Brennan Poole (12th) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
Did Not Qualify: No. 10 Josh Wise and No. 89 Morgan Shepherd.

Results: Kyle Busch won the Kansas Lottery 300, his 85th victory in 327 NXS races. He started on the pole and led 150 laps of the 200-lap race. This is his ninth victory and 13th top-10 NXS finish in 2016. It is his fourth victory and 10th top-10 finish in 12 NXS races at Kansas. Elliott Sadler (finished second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in seven races at Kansas and his 27th top-10 finish in 2016. Daniel Suarez (third) posted his second top-10 finish in two races at Kansas. Brennan Poole (seventh) was the highest finishing rookie. Elliott Sadler and Daniel Suarez are tied in points for the lead in the NXS standings but Sadler has three wins to Suarez’ two.
