Wrapup: Martinsville Speedway

Martinsville Speedway was the venue for the two lone races this past week. On Saturday afternoon, reigning Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton won the series race. The Sprint Cup Series’ first race of the Eliminator Round closed out the weekend with Jeff Gordon picking up his ninth Grandfather Clock trophy on Sunday in his final trip to the Virginia 0.526-mile oval. The XFINITY Series will return to action on Saturday, November 7 at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials:
Joey Logano (#22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 with a lap of 19.215 seconds, 98.548 mph. This is his 14th pole in 252 NSCS races. It is his sixth pole and 25th top-10 start in 2015 and his second pole in 14 races at Martinsville Speedway. Logano led 207 laps and finished the 500-lap event in 37th place.
Did Not Qualify: No one, only 43 cars entered for 43 spots in the lineup.
Winner: Jeff Gordon (#24 AARP Member Advantages Chevrolet SS) won the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500, his 93rd victory in 794 NSCS races. This is the Hendrick Motorsports driver's first victory and 18th top-10 finish in 2015. It is his ninth victory and 37th top-10 finish in 46 races at Martinsville Speedway. Gordon started 5th in the lineup and led 35 laps of the 500-lap event. His victory secures his spot as one of the four drivers who will compete for the Sprint Cup Championship in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Time Trials:
Cole Custer (#00 Haas Automation Chevrolet Silverado) won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award for the Kroger 200 with a lap of 19.530 seconds, 96.959 mph. This is the JR Motorsports driver's third pole in 18 NCWTS races. It is his first pole and seventh top-10 start in 2015 and his first pole in four races at Martinsville Speedway. Custer led a race-high 96 laps and finished the 200-lap event in fourth place.
Did Not Qualify: #86 Brandon Brown, #35 Jim Weiler, #6 Norm Benning and #87 Charles Buchanan Jr.
Winner: Matt Crafton (#88 Fisher Nuts/Menards Toyota Tundra) won the Kroger 200, his 10th victory in 358 NCWTS races. The ThorSport Racing driver started 13th in the lineup and led 63 laps of the 200-lap event. It is his fifth victory and 16th top-10 finish in 2015. It is also Crafton's second victory and 16th top-10 finish in 28 races at Martinsville Speedway.
