Wrapup: Martinsville Speedway

The Martinsville Speedway (MS) hosted two NASCAR top series events this past weekend. On Saturday, the 0.526-mile oval in Virginia featured the Camping World Truck Series 250-lap Alpha Energy Solutions 250. The Monster Energy 500-lap STP 500 was held on Sunday afternoon. The XFINITY Series will return to action on Saturday, April 8, with the My Bariatric Solutions 300 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR Home Tracks and other covered series are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: No time trials (rain). Lineup set by NASCAR rule book (owner points). Kyle Larson started from the pole position and Chase Elliott started opposite on the front row. Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano rounded out the top-five in the lineup. Erik Jones was the highest starting rookie (15th).
Did Not Qualify: No one, only 38 cars entered for 40 starting spots.

Results: Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion) won the STP 500, his 23rd victory in 275 MENCS races. This is his second victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2017. It is his first victory and ninth top-10 finish in 15 races at MS. Kyle Busch (second) posted his 13th top-10 finish in 24 races at MS. It is his third top-10 finish in 2017. Chase Elliott (third) posted his first top-10 finish in four races at MS. Erik Jones (12th) was the highest finishing rookie. Pole-sitter Kyle Larson led 23 laps and finished the 500-lap race in 17th place.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS)
Time Trials: MENCS regular Chase Elliott, driving the No. 23 Allegiant Airlines/NAPA Chevrolet Silverado, won the Keystone Light Pole Award for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 with a lap of 94.951 mph. This is his third pole in 12 NCWTS races. It is his second top-10 start in 2017 and his second pole in four NCWTS races at MS. Johnny Sauter (second) posted his third top-10 start of 2017 and his 14th in 19 races at MS. Timothy Peters (third) posted his 14th top-10 start at MS and his third in three races this season. Chase Briscoe (eighth) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
Did not qualify: No. 22 Austin Wayne Self, No. 6 Norm Benning and No. 10 Charles Buchanan Jr.

Results: Pole-sitter Chase Elliott won the Alpha Energy Solutions 250, his second victory in 12 NCWTS races. It is his second top-10 NCWTS finish in 2017 and his first victory and third top-10 finish in four NCWTS races at MS. Johnny Sauter (second) posted his 10th top-10 finish in 19 races at MS. It is his second top-10 finish in 2017. Christopher Bell (third) posted his second top-10 finish in three races at MS. Noah Gragson (fourth) was the highest finishing rookie.
